Manchester (he/him)

I’ve been musing a touch today (thank you quiet working day) and thinking how my attraction works, what it’s based in and how it deepens. I’ve realised that I’m very tuned into a persons scent, definitely a partners and that gets deeper for me over time. Not that I go around sniffing people (not without consent anyway) but I definitely notice.

So dear fabbers, how important is scent to you in terms of attraction?

Oh I love the men's aftershave!!!

I smell certain ones walking about and I instantly think of certain guys.

What do you wear OP?

Travelling

It's not, until it is.

I can be attracted to somebody greatly without even a (conscious) hint of their scent. But then when I do get a whiff (lovely word) it can up things to a whole over level. Does that make scent important to my attraction, not at all, but it adds a new layer to enhance it.

Obviously if somebody does not smell great (unhygienic) then that does definitely detract from the attraction.

Funnily though it is one of the reasons I rarely give out what scents I use on myself. I try to keep them as unique to me as possible. So that if they do get a hint of that scent it reminds them of me.

I'm hungry and my brain is not focused on what I'm saying so the above mess is what I came up with.

I've not really thought about it before but now I realise I get overwhelmed nasally (sensory thing)

I hardly ever wear perfume. So I'll smell of Dove most of the time.

On other people I enjoy B's beard balm and subtle scents.

I used to wear alot of aftershaves, but over the recent year I've found the small of Dove soap or shower cream much more satisfying to Smell.

"...So dear fabbers, how important is scent to you in terms of attraction?"

It's important. For me it's an indication of their personality and their general ablutionary outlook in regards to grooming. I love cologne...but I'm put off by women who douse themselves with too much scent, thus rendering themselves nauseatingly unapproachable and unattractive.

Less is more. I want to savour their subtle scent twinned with their natural pheromones, which makes for an attractive woman.

I like the smell of a good aftershave. But I find the smell of toil on a man a whole new level. You know that clean sweaty smell ? I wonder if somewhere in my cave person brain it's a hunter gatherer attraction on a primeval level ?

Very important. I have a freakishly strong sense of smell, although it often takes people by surprise that I have zero scent of my own. Truth be told, most people reek like shit. The most beautiful scent is that of a virgin maiden, but it's so fleeting. I tried many ways of preserving that scent until I ended up on the wrong side of this one girl's dad and all hell broke loose. C'est la vie.

Oh it's definitely important, scents trigger memories for me both good and bad and also provide a comfort when they're associated to someone who is a special person in my life

I don't know, and I can't smell it on you. You smell like someone's dad?

City Centre

I've a bit of a dislike of overpowering scents on both men and women. The heavy handed approach when applying a scent can really put me off.

Regarding attraction to a scent then for me the more subtle the better. On an intimate level with someone the natural scent of skin very much arouses me, I guess all the senses are heightened at that stage.
