My 15 year old daughter...Yes I know I dont look old enough...Told me that yet another girl in her year has just had a Baby...Thats 4 this year ffs What is the matter with kids these days?Its not like they dont get any information or help...Or am I just old fashioned and should be happy for these girls and spotty hoody proud Dads...

my daughter who left school last year came home from her prom rather pissed off and when i asked why she said they had crowned this girl prom queen and their reasons for doing so was because she had a child last year and it was their way of saying well done for having a kid and still carring on with her education (i thought education was compulsary under 16 baby or not so it wasnt like she had a choice lol)

Anyway my daughters attitude was, oh so if your a good student, buckle down to work and get all As in your exams noone bothers about you, but if you sleep about, get pregnant and have a kid you get rewarded for it lol she just saw it as encouraging other young girls to get pregnant so they could become prom queen, seems a stilly reason to have a kid to us but you got to remember these girls are only kids themselves

I personally think there should be somewhere for these kids to go and get condoms from, because if we are going to be honest most kids that are are experimenting with sex, its nothing new and it will go on for years, some girls are lucky enough to not get pregnant but for others it happens, im sure 80% of the adult who look down their noses at partents with teenage kids with babies own kids are doing the same, no point pretending they not, thing is kids get sexual education now and they do know about condoms but its where they feel comfy enough to go for them, you cant ask mum and dad at 14/15 can u? you cant go into a chemist cause god thats far to embarrassing and someone you know may see you, most probably dont realise they can use family planning at that age and would they go if they did if its at their own doctors? they really need somewhere thats aimed at under 18s a mobile drop in centre or something, i just feel its such a shame that these girls are left to cope with a baby at such a young age when i can be so easily avoided, they not bad kids, they not monsters they just normal kids that arnt as lucky as most

I agree with what has been said truth is though Girls and Boys are encouraged to admit if they are having or feel they are being preasured into having sexual relationships.Those that admit to it are helped as there is a very good School councillor relationship set up at schools these days that do not judge but only offer help.

And still Kids choose to ignore this kind of discreet impartial help...Why ?

As I said praps I am old fashioned because I know a lot of Girls and Boys at my School would have grabbed the help which is being offered now and lifes would have been different...

there is ...its called the C card scheme. Its a free and confidential service that requires the young person to be registered via someone trained in advising on sexual health ( school nurse, specialist youth worker etc )

once you're registered you can use the card to obtain free condoms at a variety of places , hopefully at least one of them will be comfortable enough for the young person to use. These will be youth clubs, connexions centres, FP clinics, High Street chemists , housing projects, counselling projects, drop ins etc .

At regular intervals of use there will be checks to ensure the young person is still up to date with advice and information. The message is to delay becoming sexually active where possible, rather than ooh you can have free condoms , off you go and have a try.

it's just part of a whole package of interventions, yet we still have the highest teen pregnancy rate in europe.
