Tin town

Many moons ago as a student, stacking shelves i used to work with an older guy called Dennis, he used to operate the lifts and open and xlose the wire gates on them... And once closed you were trapped with him until the destination floor was reached... The gate opened ad you could escape... In those interminable seconds he never failed to impart his wisdom...

"Better out than in" was a regular....

"its not me its the others"... Was another...

What pearls of wisdom have you picked up at work that have stuck with you.? Did you work with a Dennis.? Maybe his twin brother?

Demonstrate value.

Engage physically.

Nurture dependence.

Neglect emotionally.

Inspire hope.

Separate entirely.

There was a guy I used to work with who wasn't the sharpest knife in the drawer and not exactly the hardest worker either.

As we were heading back to the station just before the Easter break, I said to him "I think *all* weekends should have four days".

He replied "Yeah, but which day would you add? The Friday or the Monday?"
