Sweaty and awful first meet

Both threads where the OPs rightly or wrongly are being slagged off for posting personal information that their "meet " may see and take offence.

Surely the more people that add to these posts saying this, the more the threads come to the top, and the more likely this will be.

If people feel strongly then why not leave the thread alone....

In my view it is the responsibility of the poster to think what they type, not other forum users. They often reap what they sow.

For example, here are two possible thread titles about the same thing;

'Stuck up women never reply to my messages'

or

'Can anyone help me inderstand why my messages don't get replies'

Which one is more likely to get more positive replies?

I'm not generally one to post harsh or unpleasant replies on threads but I'm certainly not censoring my replies to account for peoples thin skins.

I agree in principle to what you are saying. Unfortunately it doesn't work like that. Someone with their own agenda will normally twist the context of the OP, which is when the crazy gang enter the fray.

I've not seen the other thread (awful first meet) just the sweaty one on here, however I do think people were harsh with that OP.

I agree with that as well. The thread gains it's own life and the story takes on new angles that were never there... the guy on one of those threads suddenly became a 'timewaster', for example, which was not a comment used by the OP at all.

All you can do is watch your own posts and try not to be deliberately unpleasant or rude I guess. Not respinding to obvious trolling is also good (but hard to resist at times).

I don't think there was much motivation. Just a fire and forget statement he never thought out. Bleating about bandwagons doesn't cut it for me - if you push a wagon down a hill you can hardly complain if prople jump on it afterwards...

I agree and I hate the thought of being involved with hurting other peoples feelings, but some of those threads do raise some interesting topics that happen in swinging. Just not good if the other people see the posts.

Discussing past experiences in general terms is fine in my book, but recent ones (like the barely out the door and log on Fab forums one this morning) and mentioning meets with others can be a bit ropey in my mind.

I don't mind banter, in jokes and cheeky references between forumites either, but anything too obvious or blatant is a bit off I think.
