I have my own understanding but i'm frequently coming across it being used as a 'defence' and to put someone else down.. e.g. If you are not open minded enough .... or well you are not open minded ..... etc etc.

What does it mean to you ?

Being able to listen to another person's point of view and consider it. It doesn't mean you accept it, agree with it or won't report them to the authorities though.

Nobody has got a completely open mind in my opinion, if it's too open everything falls out.

What it actually means and what people want it to mean are two totally different things.

I personally think it means being willing to try new experiences and ideas. It seems to be mostly used by people who have an agenda and don’t want you to question them.

I don’t think it is a good phrase anymore.

The opposite to a fixed mindset , believing in the possibility that you can wrong about someone or something or can learn new things and change your mind.

I would open minded people are more likely to be free thinking and have growth mindset too.

I was referring to coming across it on here.... I think it has a completely different meaning to most on here.

It seems they think if you don't indulge in a certain practice you are not open minded.....

Surely they just mean 'you are not open to this ACT' .......

Open minded means the person is Willing to try anything at least once before they say no thank you to it.

That doesn't mean they expect others to be that way they are simply letting others know it's what they are like so it's not easy to shock them neither are they going to make a person feel bad or uncomfortable for the kinks or fantasies they have.

Because, like "don't be mean" or " calm down" are used against people who are neither being mean nor uncalm to try and make it a fault in them, oh you're not very open minded is used to try and shame people out of their prefences or choices too often.
