Do you know what you want in the supermarket?

Jump to newest

From the land of haribos.

With this I mean, when you go into a supermarket, do you know what you want, or do you like to walk around to look at everything, if so, how long could you be in there?

I most of the time go straight to the things that I need and leave. I might go around sometimes, but mostly it is just for the things that I need

I hate the food shop, so we make a list and we are in and out in about 10 minutes it is why Screwfix is my favourite shop, order online and they have it waiting there

Make a list, leave said list at home, buy loads of shit, get home realise I've missed half of it.

I walk round looking at everything, buy a load of stuff I don’t need and almost certainly will forget at least one or two things I actually need

...this is a trap.

I just know you want me to say 'of course, I stick to my list meticulously because it's sensible' and then tomorrow you're bumping this thread calling me out for walking out of the big shop with six bags of 13p donuts from the whoopsies.

Never make lists just wander about aimlessly chucking stuff in the trolley.

Lifes departure lounge NN9 Northamptonshire East not West MidlandsMidlands

Make a list of essentials then add impulse buys as I go round.

In and out in less than half an hour.

Always shop Saturday mornings at 7am, back home unloaded and drinking my first cup of coffee by 8am.

The rest of the day is my own.

It's always best to share the onions anyway.

Hell yes, my weeks shop for myself is done in 20 minutes with no list.

Order online and collect without even going in.

If I do have to go in, it’s for something specific so just a quick visit.

I tend to eat the same things pretty consistently (just easier to batch cook when you are single) so I know what I have to buy - in and out as quick as possible.

We always meal plan, with a few options, and take a list. We halved our grocery costs from how we used to spend.

We do unfortunately, often end up going back for multiple ‘treats’ during the week x

The wife is one of the most organised people I have ever met. She knows exactly what she's shopping for, and knows the layouts of various supermarkets. When out shopping with a friend, she's had to point out to them where a "deal" is only saving about 3p and effectively making them buy something twice - and usually perishable produce.

Lost count of the amount of times I've asked when she's marching into Poland.

In, move purposefully to location of desired items, ignore deliberately placed distractions, push the hydra off a nearby cliff, grab only products you came for, nothing more, probably less if the shelves are empty, head for self service checkout, avoid all social interaction, especially overly friendly check out lady, slay minotaur blocking the exit, get out and go about my day.

Yes. I make a list of what I need and stick to it. I buy the same things almost every week so I go straight to them.

I know the store well so my list starts with the things closest to the entrance and I work my way round to the tills

Make a list, in and out without a doubt with just the things on the list.

Go home to unpack and realise you haven't written everything down you needed.

I always need the same things so yes! I keep stocks of things with long shelf life so mostly just shop for weekly fresh things - meat, milk, yogurt, fruit , veg,,occasionally bread if feeling depressed.

On the rare occasion I go into a supermarket (online shopper usually) I know EXACTLY what I want and I get it and get out ASAP.

Supermarket shopping is dreary.

.

It depends on where I'm going.

If it's a general shop, list, stick to it roughly.

If it's Booths or Waitrose or a farm shop, then no, I like to browse and meander and be inspired. Thanks for the thread bump Shag, I've decided I'm going to Booths this afternoon now. :D

Sunniest Exeter...

Make list, check

Take list, check

Pick time when very few are there, check

Follow list, don't deviate

Pay

Leave

Congratulate youself in being done in under 30 minutes

Celebrate with beer
