No. Well sort of.

The profile could be complete bullshit.

But yes, you can sense confidence withing profile text. But it could simply be bullshiting trying to appear confident. At that point it's hard to say if the person themselves are actually confident.

Not really because it might be an image they're trying to convey. Take the threads where people ask for profile advice and then change it completely to make themselves more... desirable. Market themselves "better".

I don't know, maybe I'm a tad cynical. Sometimes I've read a profile and thought that yes, they do sound confident and secure in themselves. I read that more often on couples profile but that might just be confirmation bias.

Not really though I can easily tell the ones who don't take it all super seriously from their profile easily enough which could be seen as confidence maybe.

The more text, the more serious I usually find. I do wonder sometimes who thinks people have time to read essays just to even message someone that will likely get ignored.

We probably look confident, and to an extent we kinda are. In as much as to say we’re confident some will find us attractive and want to meet us.

Over confident would be thinking everyone wants us!

Not necessarily confidence, but you get a sense for who takes themselves too seriously for me/wants an instant shag/is full of braggadocio. Mostly I read it right, but occasionally not. It's an interesting one!

I think you can tell the confident profiles by what they don’t say - in my experience those who know what they are doing tend not to have massively pornographic/explicit profiles. They are just well written, normal profiles that don’t need to show off/pretend they are something they clearly are not.

Sometimes no. Most of the time no. And I can never tell if they are confident.

But I can spot arrogance a mile away, and people sometime mistake their arrogance for confidence.

To those who don't read profile your just lazy and stupid in my eyes.

Same length of time you take fishing for a meet or pre planned meet you could use it to read a profile instead of asking stupid questions that has the answer on a person's profile

In a word: no.

You can get a general 'feel' of their personality but one can never be sure if it's something they've written in a mad rush without any forethought, or whether someone else has written it for them or, even more outlandishly, it's something they've fabricated via ChatGPT/AI.

Real time messaging and chatting is probably the only way I suppose.

Profile alone can be hard but there’s clues, especially if they post on forums. People reveal the most interesting things about themselves unintentionally, what they don’t say, how they mirror and emulate etc

I'd agree with that! I think to a certain degree it applies to my profile too, I've definitely toned down my profile over the years .

I would say a small part is down to your profile pic. Yours doesn’t give anything away. But on the other hand neither does mine. Think I speak for most on here saying I would hate to be recognised by a friend or work colleague.

Kind of. Sometimes. Not always.

You can read a lot into a profile and get completely the wrong end of the stick at times.

What you see as confidence may in fact be pure arrogance. It may be faux confidence and utter bullshit, the reality being they're timid, shy and quiet in person.

It's easy to say one thing on a profile or in a message and then not be able to live up to it face to face.

It's why a phone chat reveals more, a social goes even further, long before any clothes hit the floor.

Many will say anything and present a persona online as a means to and end. Which can be a massive disappointment when you finally meet them and find they're not the person you thought they were at all.

Big subject based in psychology and nuro-linguistics.

Basically there are two sets of linguistic patterns, one is based in necessity, limiting beliefs, the other is based in possibly, the movement beyond personal limits. Almost like pessimistic and optimistic belief

These patterns can be expressed through verbal and written language.
