No issues with getting disconnected, I realised that early on and got a second line just for the internet.

1p a minute to surf the web at a snail pace seemed reasonable back then

Bit like that myself when it comes to IT or queues. Ive walked out many times and taken my custom to no waiting. Bus is the worst or cancelled train.

As for dial ups they were replaced with phone packages. I remember them being stuck and slow.

Oh yes queuing too! I walk out if I’ve only gone to the shop for 1 thing and the person in front is loading up the travelator or whatever they are called with a weeks worth of shopping. They look at me holding my bread and then carry on loading it up without letting me nip in front
