"Would be ok to lay off the booze and the usual list of things but we've both been on a health kick, not a drink in two weeks! Yes regularly take allopurinol and the cherry juice - in fact any dark skinner fruit helps, as do herbs as they anti inflammatory , but about twice a year it just flares up. As a seasoned sufferer, I have come to the conclusion that if you have a propensity towards it, then all you can do is manage it. " funnily, mine flares up for no apparent reason, but soon as i feel a twinge which tends to be as i get out of bed in the morning i start throwing the diclofex down me and for a couple of days its uncomfortable but stops a full blown attack.

"I also suffer from gout. My rheumatologist says not to drink alcohol (he's got no chance), Not to eat cabbage, (no problem) brocolli (Sorry too tasty), red meat (he's having a laugh) or seafood (I was born and bought up on an island, sea food in in my blood) Colchachine gave me a bad stomach, Allipurinol does the trick, apart from the odd flare up, and then Naproxen, washed down with a glass of dry white wine takes the edge off it. I don't want the gout, but I don't want to give up living my life either" Fucking broccoli!? I've heard it all now! Like you say, you have to live afterall!

"You can often relive gout swelling by drinking enough water, ... If you're looking for natural remedies, aloe vera gel can be very helpful. yep it's a little miracle that plant but it cannot be patented so no good really for the pharma business." Know exactly what you mean. Whenever we are at a health food shop and the products proclaim all these benefits, we just look at each other and go 'why not just eat the things that have these amazing qualities but in their natural state?' I think its called a balanced diet. It'll never catch on!
