Layers of an onion

So I often describe vulnerability as layers of onion.

Peeling back each layer at a time until you allow someone in to the middle

For me vulnerability can be a mental or a physical thing, certain body hang ups or even worried about how I’m perceived.

Naivety…now there’s a big one. Allowing someone in who isn’t what or who they said.

So in all honesty do you become closed to allowing people in or maybe guarded to it or how do you deal with it?

For me, it's a reciprocal thing that happens over time and only in person

Become more robust within yourself. If you harden your heart because the actions of a few, then those few have effectively “won” as they have changed you through their behaviour.

I’ll keep being open-hearted and trusting, if someone chooses to abuse that, then that’s on them and their life is more impoverished by such actions, ultimately they will end up alone. Yes it hurts, but pain can be overcome, through support and seeking new joys and ultimately by being the person you are

I definitely carefully control how much I let someone in. I'm fairly open about lots of things so I can give the impression if being an open book but there are certain things I keep very close to my chest.

I’m no longer religious but my understanding of it was that it was a sin. And all religious people are sinners of course but no person is without sin. Not even Jesus himself was without sin.

Excluding my Kids and Pets.

No-one gets in 100% and that's a learned from abuse, survival technique, which will stay till the day I die. I'm very happy with that and it works in all of my relationships

No one knows all my "layers" that makes me who I am, not even close family and friends.

I will keep some things back that they do not need to know because I don't want to discuss it or upset them but telling them everything.

Fab friends only know what I want them to know as well.

Could change in the future, who knows.
