A question on being single

If someone was to ask you "How come you're still single and haven't settled down yet?", would you be honest and give them a reason or would you tell them that's none of their business?

Depends on whether you want to shut down the conversation or not. It's like any question really.

I’d be honest with them. They may not like the answer but that’s on them for asking in the first place.

I tell them the truth. I'm a widow and now I've found I enjoy my independence.

Tell them the truth…… I’m much happier being single to do as I please

After a think, I'd probably be honest about it. I've had too many heartbreaks in the past and just gave up on relationships out of fear of it happening again.

What I do find ridiculous is how society, the media or even social media seems to paint a negative picture on singledom by making it look like there's something wrong with person for staying single.

I'd probably just shrug my shoulders and hold back my tears because I wouldn't have a fucking clue!

I'm not single, but in the times I was I wouldn't have a problem saying that I haven't met anybody yet who has made a decision with me to get together like that. Until then I'm happy being single.

What I would have a problem with is their assumption that I ought to behave the way they expect me to.

It depends who is asking, if it’s a friend I’d simply be honest, if it’s a not friend being challenging I’d challenge the reasoning of the question and turn it back on them, if they want to make me feel a way I’ll return their energy

I'd probably tell them where to go. Just because a lot of people 'settle down' doesn't make it a prerequisite for a fulfilling life

Carlisle usually

I just tell them I'm not exactly single, and I'm as settled down as I intend to ever be

Whilst there are always some exceptions, in my not inconsiderable experience, most people are single because they choose to be…..

I tell them I like being single. I was with someone for 30 years though.

I wouldn't do that again.

Most people who ask why I'm not seeing anyone say it because they think I'm too beautiful to be on my own

Do people still ask this? Would be my reply.
