I don't want to have "just a fuck" without connection. Sex is so much better when you actually know and like the person, and the spark is about more than just what they look like.

There's a lot of grey area between a fuck and a relationship... in the "relationship" way I mean. I wouldn't be having "just a fuck" with a friend, there is more to it. I'm a naturally tactile and physically intimate person so sex with a friend would mean kissing, stroking (affectionately, not in a groping way), snuggling. I wouldn't think those things are covered in the terms of "just a fuck".

Even with the couples I meet, I like to see their dynamic, how they play off each other and how I can best interact and position myself (mentally) into that, as they are being quite brave inviting someone (especially someone like me

) into their relationship if even for a fleeting time.

I think motivations change with age and experience, I certainly get more out of fab interactions when a degree of emotional/mental intimacy is achieved. The more connected you are, the better you “perform” all round. Perhaps for women who have more choice there is less inclination to know the person as they can afford the whole menu (that my be controversial), but thinking men just say stuff to get stuff is a thing (as it is for all genders). and well cynicism comes from personal experience which cannot be disputed.

Exactly this - I couldn't have worded it any better.

Everyone has been hurt at some point or another. If it keeps happening, I can understand why you'd be guarded and cynical to a certain extent. I also think you have to find a way to move past that (if you want to etc) because you shouldn't allow your past to dictate your future interactions.

I know, I know #notallmen bleurgh. There are men on here who do want a connection.

I'm in "can't let go of the hurt" phase. Several hurts one after the other. I recognise that's where I am, but not able to let go yet as it's too recent.

The sex with my long term partner has been perfect over the 13 years I've known him.

We don't pillow talk, we've never been out for a drink, we don't socialise at mine or his.
