As i very rarely rant im having my own special rant day.

Does age difference really matter to people, if yuo dont want to meet people of a certain age surely you just by pass them.

But in everyday life would you shun a couple because of a large age gap, if you where in there company or is it just in swinging (ve though the option is there for you to block and move on. Im not saying it is the case for everyone, but im really interested in how people look at or percieve large age gaps in every day life. Do you as some would say find it horrendous.

Is it just the fact that people of a large age gap doesnt sit comfortable or should they all be hung drawn and quarted in everyday life

Age to me is a number. I may be 26 but I don't think I act that way. I choose my sexual partners to be older than me because younger than that does very little for me.

I wouldn't ever discriminate a couple because of age.

Oh and you are allowed to rant whenever you want, special dispensation for being you.

I think age is a number and in terms of posting for example some forumites sounds so wise and mature, CutenSassy for one, you, Ruby are another. Not wishing to sound patronising here but you guys are good examples of age and maturity are two different things and they do not necessarily go hand in hand.

I just took acception to the word horrendus being used on another thread. In everyday life we have never had a negative comment said to us, my mum is two years older and calls him jay but she calls my sisters husband broher in law but that would be odd.

One guy swung his head round like an owl once cause we came out of somewhere and jay grabbed my arse, but i fully appreciate that people are less likely to swing with our age difference. Its just when some see it as something bad

Doesn't bother me in "real life" or swinging.

But we only play with under 40's.

However what people choose to do with their life and relationships is their business and no one else's!

See this is a great example of how age should mean bugger all, but it's society that see large age gaps as wrong, an older man with a younger girl will get strange looks out and about, but an older lady with a younger man is not so much an issue.

when i have met men who were 30 years younger than me, it didnt feel strange.

if i was in a relationship with them, then that would be different.

my hubbys 20 years older than me, in some ways i can relate to men who are in their thirties ot twenties more than i can men of my own age.

when i first heard one of my relations was living with a man the same age as her son i thought it was funny, only since meeting him i hardly notice because he is inteligent and mature for his age.

there was an article in the paper yesterday that said if someone has a problem they are more likely to tell a woman in her fifties because they are good listeners.

We as a couple have age ranges for a reason mrs scoobs has a ten year rule, no one over 10 years older than her.

If a couple are with in our age ranges but have say male 55 and female 30 it would not stop us meeting them.

The interesting thing is.. I sometimes receive messages from people with a set age limit... and I am not within that limit... and when I point that out they give some hysterica reasons for having the limit in the first place. Go figure...

We have the limit as a general rule of thumb, because we know quite a few who happily embellish their age, so that is when we use our discretion

Years ago I've had a girlfriend 16 years older than me.

My oldest meet was in her late fifties and was a lovely and talented lady

I have also met several ladies and couples in their early twenties.

All have been great and the reason I played with them was because I liked them. Simple as that

I too read the said forum thread and decided to delete my harsh words, I was about to have a good old rant but I had nothing nice to say to a person who can openly lay into a group of people like that. My hubby and I have been together for 10 years with a 17 year age gap and quite honestly that was the first experience I've had of nastiness about it.

We are not ageist at all, and I think age is a number, if your happy who your with, whether they be younger, older or the same age then that's all that counts!

We have a age range that is similar to our ages, I don't really want to play with younger guys, but I don't mind them older....

Well personally I've never looked at age as in the conventional way, i.e. in my early twenties, I had younger friends plus friends nearly as old as my patents and also when I've been in my 30's/40's, friends in their teens, 20's/50's/60's/70's etc. it's got fuck all to do with age and all about outlook.

Relax, there are many people of all ages that feel this way, the ones that don't are the ones not to give two shits about anyway

I know where this has come from Karen, and I know it touched a nerve for you. There are some very blinkered people in the World and they can say things without giving a moments thought to how this will affect the feelings of others.

Personally, I don't give a damn about anyone's age if they are in my company socially, nor in the case of a couple who happen to have a significant age gap between them. If two people who love each other happen to have been born in different decades, maybe even with a decade or two in between, then what business is that of anyone elses..? If one person (or couple!) can't respect another regardless of age or who they choose to be with then I pity them, to be honest. Some people need to take a good long look at their prejudices....

In Swinging, if I were to encounter someone in the 20's who actually wanted to play with me maybe in a club, the fair enough. The only time I would question even my own motives, or those of someone else's, would be if they made a continual habit of seeking out people of a generation or more younger or older than them solely for the purpose of having sex with.
