I keep my circle small for a reason .. and when you speak to new people and I don't mean on fab.. you just find yourself worlds apart from the people talking to you ..so many people feel a need to talk a certain way and act a certain way that's the latest Trend.. don't care about what Jordan's are in right now or what reality tv series your watching.. I like to talk to intelligent minds who i can talk deep with and bounce ideas off each other

I totally get you. I think we only truly match with an incredibly small amount of people . It's easy to have lots of acquaintances but true friends are far and free between.

I guess I have what I would call acquaintances. I have 2 very close friends that I will actively go out of my way to stay connected to.

There are very few people that I choose to engage with, I'm finding it harder as time goes on.

It's more about the mindset of people these days it's so generic almost like everyone you talk to is just in that mindset of being a consumer and following whatever the rest are.. believing what they are told.. it's rare to speak people who are their own person and have strong views and mindsets .. think for themselves and couldn't care if it doesn't please others

As I get older I realise I have hardly anything in common with the younger generations - I have no idea who the “celebs” are these days and most of the cultural references the young ‘uns mention on here.

I can’t fathom why everyone is so in to some of the shite in Tiktok and Instagram etc and the whole identity politics thing can frazzle my brains at times.

I tend to be more comfortable around my age group, likewise I don’t have a large circle of friends but do like to think of myself as open and sociable when I meet new people so even if I have little in common with them I’ll still try to get on with those I meet the best I can.

When I speak to new people I don’t want their deeply held philosophical views, identity politics, or whatever it is. I find people who have to be “deep” or “meaningful” from the get go fuvking exhausting.

I hear what your saying that's more age/generation related.. it just shocks me when other people can't see what's happening right in front of your eyes and they choose to believe the news .. hardly anyone thinks for themselves anymore

Edinburgh for few days

Having just gone over the sixties mark find these days that I live and do things that suit me. Yes interact with my own kids but stuff like fashion, trends etc I just ignore. Feel more comfortable in my own self and prefer people who have same interests and connection, so quite agree with OP and comments made.
