I think us men have it hard wired into us that "women like a compliment based on aesthetics". It's a somewhat creaky concept these days, but it's also quite an anxious space because IRL if men walked around telling random women they look pretty/gorgeous/beautiful they'd get a few teeth knocked out along with the more polite reactions.
Aesthetic appreciation is a precursor to physical worship, so in a place like this where we all know why we're here, there are only images and words. It probably feels like a safe space for men to flatter and compliment. If we only have a knee or an ankle to work with, well, we're a resourceful bunch and we'll lavish that knee with high art appreciation.
I DM'd a local woman on here and decided to lavish compliments upon the chair in the background of the picture, which did earn me an instant block, unsurprisingly
