Over generalisation

Are we guilty of over generalisation in life and in Fab?

All men are…

All woman are…

All couples are…

Have we stopped having the ability to take individuals at face value or are we all too quick to jump on the band wagon of berating others?

All people? You’re generalising Posh. Some people are the same.

This could get semantically and pedantically tricky.

Probably not, everyone’s too lazy.

Generalisation of stereotyping was around long before Fab.

There's probably also the issue that people take phrases such as "all men" or "all women" as just that... when the person who said it didn't specifically mean every single one

I dunno, just a thought

People say ‘men’ and they have to respond with ‘not all men’ and it’s so funny

For all those that find it funny to leave sarcastic remarks or the old and bold here who think that it’s funny to jump on a genuine post I have received 3 pretty disgusting messages based upon this post. I won’t name and shame but I will report.

Reading

My daughter picks me up on this when we have an argument I often say you always do X when in reality it's happened only a few times. I think our brains just do this.

Same when people say ladies and many pop up saying 'not all ladies' and their get knickers in a twist. Would be much easier if people used the tools of the English language and said "some ladies", "many ladies", "most ladies", "a few ladies" etc. If only people would qualify their nouns with adjectives life would be a lot easier and less confrontational. Yes I'm fun at parties

I actually read verywellMIND on the subject of overgeneralisation.

I found it very interesting.

I am off to read more.
