Yes, there's series of sciatica exercises that help. The ones I remember are all standing exercises. Maybe have a google or ask does your gp surgery have any recommended ones.

Good luck.

What he said

Also use a stick to keep the weight off the affected side when you’re walking

I had accupuncture many years ago, took four sessions, never had any symptoms since.

Things that helped me cure it. When it’s bad , ice the area its coning from from and use anti inflammatory drugs plus tramadol for pain in the day if needed, amiltrytyline at night. No sitting , standing desk, lots of walking etc. when it’s not bad - lose weight, build core strength, power walking, swimming and flexibility. Never go back to sitting at a desk

Depends what’s causing it but periodic nerve root blockers, laser surgery or just change in lifestyle can permanently cure it

Maybe it was a coincidence. Most cases of back pain heal themselves with no action.

Sciatic pain from vertebrae issues or nerve pressure takes a lot more than a few needles to fix. Did they do an MRI first to see exactly what they were dealing with ? How did the needles address the issue exactly I’m curious ?

Sciatica. I wouldn't wish it on my ex-wife.

Lots of good advice so far.

It depends how serious it is. When my back was in spasm, chiropractic sessions helped. It was £500 well spent.

If it's mild, then doing stretches and pelvic tilts on a physio ball help.

Personally, I found that hanging off a pull-up bar or monkey bars and having someone grab me by the ankles and gently stretch me gave the most relief.

I also received acupuncture from my GP.

I didn't ask why. I was happy to try everything available!

I ended up having two Spinal fusion surgeries and one spinal decompression surgery.

Push to get an MRI scan if they not done one already to make sure its not a disc or bone spur causing the problem.

The consultant told me if i had been given an MRI sooner instead of them trying other cures for four years first they might have not needed to do the fusions depending what condition the disc's had been in when my problems first started.

He said by time a GP normally refer people to him its too late.

That normally they was sent for physiotherapy first which can make the condition worse in some cases.

In my case though one of the factors was i had been in a bad motorbike crash years before and had fractured several vertebrae. So they had thought my pain was caused by my previous injuries.

Find out the root cause. This will mean you being quite insistent with medical professionals.

The cause of mine was spinal stenosis which required surgery. The specialist and physio both tried acupuncture which was no help but I know of people for who it worked very well.

Try the recommended exercises, if you need to stand for any period of time put the affected leg on a step or small stool and try cycling if walking becomes difficult.

I hope you can find relief

South Wales

Co-codamol and ibuprofen cream rubbed in general area, heat patches and if really bad I see a Chiropractor which shortens the time I have an episode.

I usually have a bout of Sciatica at least once a year - it just pings out of nowhere the back cramps in bed I find the worst.
