I think if you reply from there it marks it as read. But when you see the icon you can see who has messaged you!

so you know before opening it!!

I've just gone into my digital wellbeing settings to check.

193 WhatsApp notifications today.

WhatsApp opened 96 times (26 more than yesterday).

54 minutes on WhatsApp.

Well to be fair today I was at soft play so on my phone quite a bit texring my partner mostly while my little one was playing so it's more than usual but I'd say I open it at least 50 times a day on average.

I do that to, and tip the phone widthways so I can read more of whats written without opening it and see if I want to reply

Here’s my humble brag!

I am enjoying my time on my phone on twitter, fab, insta, tik tok, playing a game. A message comes through from WhatsApp. Someone saying hi. I then reply. Then go back to what I was doing. Then they reply and I go back to that again and come back to my app and it’s too overwhelming and overstimulating for *my* brain.

So what I do instead is, I leave the message and swear I’ll reply to it, and enjoy my video or scrolling and laughing (my fun basically) then I go and do another thing that I want to do and then I put my phone down. I might think oh I forgot about that message or oh I should check WhatsApp at a later point and then I reply to messages and they’ve built up.

I don’t reply to messages instantly because conversation requires time spent on the app and honestly I don’t always want to be on WhatsApp. In between messages there’s no fun things to do on there except wait. And if I go on another app- my silly brain can’t cope with flicking between both.

Hope that explains my humble brag better x
