I've seen all the list except The Dark Knight but that's simply as I'm not a fan of superhero films.

Its the Shawshank Redemption that intrigues me the most. I think its certainly a good film. In fact lets be clear its a very good film. But to me its just not THAT good a film. It causes me to ponder how many genuinely love it as their fave film (their absolute right to of course) and how many simply choose it for these polls as they desire to be perceived as having "excellent taste"

I genuinely love Shawshank and I think a lot of people genuinely do. I believe its the total despair of the situation Andy Dunkeswell. His degradation and how he doesn't give up and the beautiful ending.

12 Angry Men is the only one I haven't seen. I find that many old films often have inflated ratings because it's cool to like them and are often actually not that great.

IMDB ratings are usually OK but can be a bit random. Shawshank Redemption is a very cool film but I don't think it deserves top spot by any stretch.

I've seen them all. Not sure about 2 lord of the rings movies in there. Godfather II is one of those rare things, like empire strikes back, a sequel that surpasses the original. 12 angry men is a great movie and just as relevant today as it talks about preconceptions and bias. And the dark Knight is one of the best films I've ever seen

I normally agree, but 12 Angry Men is such a good film! They take the most simple concept and dissect it over the course of the film and make the absolute most out of a minimal story. It's absolutely incredible!

Instead some expensive dental prosthetics were made, as they needed to cover up his own teeth, which were too nice for the character of Don Corleone.

I've only seen 3 (the Dark Knight, and the 2 LoTR movies). Pattern seems to be I've only seen it if it came out after I was born. Given that all others in the list seem to be dramas (a genre I avoid), not interested in them either. I didn't think the Dark Knight was as good as people rate it either.
