Any tips to make epilation more bearable?

What is the most painful and least painful parts of the body you epilate?

Bearable?

Yeah. Don't do it.

Better done on shorter hair to maintain tension against the follicles.

Don't do it on longer hair.

Don't ask how I know.

OK I was bored alright. It was the late 90s.

I can do legs and chin. Everywhere else is too painful and I bleed.

Painkillers, tight skin

I've never used one because they look evil, but has anyone tried Emla cream to numb the skin first?

I find my legs easily bearable. Upper lip is not great but better than the one time I had it threaded.

Honestly, one of the best things I've ever purchased, is a sand mitt! It rubs the hair off, zero pain and leaves them so silky! (Please Google it) saves my tears no end! x

That sounds interesting.

Or some wild plants can provide natural pain-relief.

You women are fecking crazy!!

Why not stick to cream or razors?

Saying that I did have a few sessions of electrolysis on my neck (don’t ask) and the pain made me laugh (weird) which set the lady off so strange sessions indeed….

Thanks for the input to this post!

I have started epilating again because I did it years ago and it was very effective for me... In fact; the hair has only 'just' began to grow back thick again some 10 years later!

I am in it for the long-term this time though... I'm not just doing my whole body in one sitting; but just a patch here and there every day or so.

...It's working well and it's more tolerable for me this way. (I simply stop when I've had enough).

This method is also enabling me to avoid in-grown hairs more effectively.

So far i have my lower-legs fully done. (The easy bit lol).

Best advice is just don’t. Shave or wax.

Epilators aren’t designed for coarser male hair, so while you can’t see it they are doing enormous damage to your skin.

I think I’m in the Rambo category using my epilator doesn’t hurt at all. It’s best to do it, as others have said with taught skin but also after a shower or bath when the skin is softer. Don’t have caffeine prior as that increases your sensitivity.

I have laser on my armpits and full pubic and peri anal and that really hurts

I'm not sure my hair is thick enough not to epilate... It's not too bad really... And it's so effective.

It's working for me anyway... I'm happy with the results and happy with taking my time doing it.

I certainly wouldn't do it though if i was as hairy as some guys I know...

...I once waxed an extremely hair friend's back which was like a thick rug of hair... I can still hear the poor bastard scream to this day...

Lasers... I'd rather avoid for many health reasons/radiation etc. There are pluses and minuses to all hair-removal methods but I trust lasers less than the others personally.

Bedford (or anywhere beginning with B..!?)

I epilate everywhere ... like waxing it gets easier and less painful over time anyway...

Try using tattoo numbing cream if it's unbearable at the start ... plus use waterproof epilators so can use in shower/bath as that's easier too

Ahhhh, I have an epilator which can be used 'wet'... I might try that... (use it in the shower) so my skin is warmed up etc... Might be easier as you say.

Thanks for that! X

I've used them and I agree they are good for what they do, but I personally want the hair pretty much destroyed so that it doesn't grow back the same again and epilators do that for me. The mitts were similar to shaving for me (hair grew back too quickly (next day))... Plus the rubbing removed all my fake tan.
