... The last few years we have seen "science" and "scientists" to the fore. They have become the village elders, the experts, the truth tellers. And some may very well be. The trouble with science as it has become now, is that it in many cases is led by agenda and financed for gain. For me at least, scientists belong in the back ground finding their facts without pressure to conclude certain outcomes. Scientists say...

Science is always done for a reason and that has always meant political agendas.

The largest leaps have often been due to things like major wars which invariably leads to large funding increases and hence more discovery.

The idea of science without agendas is just not possible.

Can you name all last year's Nobel prize winners for science? Or who had the most cited paper in nature last year? The vast majority can't which suggests many aren't in the public domain in reality.

That a few scientists got wheeled out to talk to the public during covid really doesn't mean they are 'to the fore'.

And that's not a bad thing, it's just people perceive they see lots of scientists preaching. When in reality it's mainly rubbish newspapers taking their work and using it to scaremonger. That's not on the scientists it's on the papers in my opinion.

Exactly this! I'd prefer to see/ hear them wheeled out from their dusty labs and structure my opinions on fact/ their studies, than that of spin and half truths.

Could say the same about some journalism.

And most social media.

Everyone is for sale, apart from those who aren't.

It's easy to tell the difference. And there is a difference.

Damn straight. Imagine what could happen if you put all three together.
