Tin town

Express headlines with "hell on earth" with a bunch of inflammatory rhetoric.. Bbc says cancel holidays, greece is aflame amongst photos of armageddon, bbc radio interview only tourists who are rooming next door to fires started by arsonists... And meanwhile greek mayor of corfu town says.. Its ok, we have it under control, these sometimes happen in the summer.

"What do other news outlets say?"

No idea... Its just that shite that pops up on my phone. Balance and truth dont seem part of the algae rhythm.

Central

I've not read many headlines, except to realise that it must be hell if you're there and possibly to lose everything. It's now a more widespread issue for lots of locals and holidaymakers, covering multiple islands and mainland locations.

I'd expect to adjust my plans in the near future, if expecting to be there.

We'll likely get more frequent outbreaks in future, due to more extreme weather, made more likely by global heating.

The Times front page runs a story about the Tories rowing back on green policies right next to a photo of Rhodes on fire

The truth is that there are areas that are deeply affected by wildfires. It's not a good idea to go there and locals and tourists alike are being evacuated. However other parts of the islands that are affected are carrying on as normal because they have to.

Source = relative who lives on an affected island

The Media are constantly playing those games... NHS crisis next to a picture of Putin. Unfortunately that way of controlling thinking works unless your aware of it
