name those hotels you’d never go back to and the reasons why?

- if you insult me with an unwashed coffee cup, that’s worthy of a complaint. I’m not going back there.

And do you just avoid that hotel, or the company altogether? Or do you let it slide and imagine they were just having a bad day?

Woody's Palace.

We woke one morning to the owner standing at the foot of our bed masturbating.

Depends how bad it is! Anything to do with hygiene or cleanliness and Mrs villain is up in arms!

Whereas I’m a bit more relaxed about it and don’t really care too much. If there was a dirty glass Mrs Villain would want a refund and be all over the reviews instantly

Don’t invite us round without prep Woody, that’s all I’m saying..

Land O’ Cakes, Ancoats in Manchester. It was a lads night out decades ago, booked by one of those mates who had clearly never stayed in a hotel before. It’s closed now, so no one will have to suffer it again

A premier inn I stayed at for a club night. Overheard the receptionist talking to 2 other guests about how they shouldn’t “tolerate” people like me at the hotel (I actually walked in on that conversation).

Staffordshire

Park Regis Birmingham.

Awful.

It was December last year, freezing cold outside and even colder in our room.

That is no exaggeration.

We had to sleep fully clothed just to feel comfortable.

The room itself was like a broom cupboard in the very corner of the 3rd floor and it was the worst hotel experience we’ve ever had.

The bed was that small my legs hung out the bottom almost from the knee. At 6’3 I’m hardly a giant and have never experienced this before.

We were told it was the only room available on complaining and correspondence afterwards was nothing more than a sorry.

It’s not like it was cheap either.

Breakfast was good.

Avoid at all costs.

Dubai & Nottingham

Manchester Marriot V&A, Man United Lounge.

Such an awesome room in such a shit hotel. Where to start - awful staff, horrible decor, no business lounge , no valet parking , no actual parking even.

Don't remember it's name, but somewhere in Nottingham

The only working socket meant balancing the kettle on my suitcase

The TV had no remote.

No one cleaned the room during my stay (I was there for 3 nights while working).

I had to go ask for loo roll.

The shower over flowed.

Reception didn't care. The owners didn't care when I complained to them.

It's since closed down. Can't say I'm surprised

Tonypandy.

Travelodge swansea. Whole floor stunk of chemicals. Shower falling off wall, bath filthy, mould all over windowsills and curtains, window was jammed closed.

Request another room, but told they were full. As it was late and we simply needed crash space, we stayed 1 night.

Carnage. Dr*nk residents fighting outside, someone let fire alarm off twice, bloke asleep in corridor in own sick.... Got full refund eventually.

All over

So many are just bad but sadly a lot of places that had been great have dropped their standards whilst at the same time charging extortionate prices. That's both in this country and abroad. However customer service on the whole is not something we can be proud off in this country and got worse since covid but it merits a seperate discussion. Complaining is hit and miss as most don't care so hardly worth the time and effort. When it is about hygiene though, I will not put up with it and will raise it there and then and ask that is addressed pronto. I will not name them here but had experience of that at a top end hotel recently. On this ocassion the responce to my complaint was instant and appropriate but nevertheless still a shocking experience.

Hotel Football at Old Trafford

Hotel not that bad (though thinks it's more upmarket than it really is), but surrounded by Man Utd tourist w*nkers who thought the place was the most impressive hotel in the country

Only stayed the 1 night and only because my usual hotel was fully booked

DN and I ran an independent one near Crawley for 18 months, best and worse time of our life, it was a right shit hole, owner was a skin flint and when we went for our interview there was a massive mud mark on one of the firs exits, 6 weeks later when as started still there.

We knew we made a terrible choice when our room didn't still have a bed (was living in the hotel) on day we moved in (despite telling owner we were coming) so stayed in a room upstairs above ours, it was the most uncomfortable bed we've ever slept in and we cried.

So so many things wrong to list here, it could keep you entertained but it makes Fawlty towers look like the Ritz.

Still, if it wasn't for living there and covid (if anything good came from it) we wouldn't have our home now, so I'd do it again if I had too.

Danish x

I hired a BDSM dungeon B&B as an overnight treat for a former sub. The owner was over an hour late to let us in. She was a mature upper class lady who barked orders at me like I was her servant. No very cool in front of my submissive (would have thought she'd understand the dynamics). She gave us a quick half arsed tour of the venue and started removing play equipment from the racks. Then She disappeared with her arms full up a flight of stairs without any explanation. Once she left I could smell the aroma of human faeces. After a bit of detection i discovered a shitty dildo on display. The place was cold and had no heating. There was a microwave in a makeshift kitchen but no cutlery or crockery. None of the electro play toys worked. The next morning during the aftercare of an emotional scene the owner just walked in on us. "Oh, I thought you left, it sounded quiet" was her response. She completely ruined the moment and killed the mood.

And there was no fucking breakfast!!!!

What do you think B&B stands for lady?!!!

Done overnighters at the serpent rooms and the blue door dungeon and the owners of these establishments have been amazing. The blue door were absolutely great hosts and went out of their way to give us a great time at the venue.

Pentahotel Derby. The hotel was lovely, the decor quirky, it was spotlessly clean and the staff were friendly. The problem was the bed. It was like trying to sleep on a slab of concrete!
