Think it was View (could be wrong) who asked this question before but i think its great and we have new users to the forums so will ask it again...

If you were asked a question in the Opening post but could only post ONCE.. would you reply with gut instinct? wait for others to reply and then re consider your answer? would you be naughty and post more than once? or would you wait til near the end to draw conclusions from bits of everything?

Brighton - even Hove!

I'm afraid I've dived in before and found lots of people have disagreed with me later on. Even my expert backtracking and disingenuous-ality has made me look foolish. Dennis Thatcher once said 'better to be silent and be thought a fool, than speak and it be known' or something like that anyway.

Nice red hair btw.

It would depend on the question

Ooh hard one..If it's something that I feel strongly in then I want to say something, but then if someone disagrees I would find it hard not to go back and justify my opinion !

If it's a non-contentious issue then I'm happy to post once and then read others replies without needing to post again.

I usually post with my own 'gut instinct'. However, if I was only allowed one post, I may just wait a while and read a few others first. I wouldn't cheat and post more than once though

"It would depend on the question"

Think it would be relatively controversial and something that had many sides to it.

fox hunting, abortion, benefit system, death penalty ... those kind of 'big talking points' where people have strong _iews one way or the other

Usually dive in to post my own _iews and opinions.

I may return to the thread later and see what else has been posted, and may add more if I see fit etc...

I try to see things from all angles, but if its something that really gets my back up then its in with both feet and both barrels.

Got to say tho, I love the humour in here, makes my day.

I have learned that sitting on the fence with a box of popcorn and can be the best entertainment ever

I've learnt to be careful what I say but still say what I like

Because I can’t type very fast the train of thought leading to my initial reaction usually changes as I’m writing it and comes out altogether different….!.

As for when and where I post in a thread….. That’s as random as the subjects that capture my interest….!.

I have learnt to not post if something has made me angry/upset, I generally post on what I like when I like.... I am careful ( I hope ) in how I put my point across,

In that case, if it was something I had personal experience/knowledge of then I would go with gut instinct and post on how the topic affected me.

Other topics I am not sure, again it would depend on the question as to how/if I would answer.

Hope that makes sense.

It would depend on the disussion topic, and the depth of the discussion that may follow.

One of the problems with the written word, and the format of a forum is that it can so easily be misunderstood, and lets face it, not many of us can get a point across in it's entirety and to include everything that informs our opinion in one hit.

Many a reply-post may include a caveat, "what if" or 'condition'...

and therefore further clarification might be needed (if the respoindant feels it's required.

Maybe the opening question should be questioned (in some instances) for clarity before a propper responce is formed?

It has to be said though, that forums in general are a mine field of misunderstanding.

I would (and I frequently do)post, following my instinct and later come back and read what others have said. Sometimes there are ideas that I may not have thought of and they might make me modify my original post. If I can only post once, clearly that would not be possible so consequently with only one pop at posting I would be less spontaneous and think longer about all the implications rather than following initial gut instinct.

I do like to read how others feel about a certain subject before I dive in but sometimes when there's only a few posts its not possible.

Only post once , cute that would spoil the fun

I post what I think. It doesn't bother me if other people disagree. I think it's a bit daft to pretend you're something you're not, just to try and make other people like you.

I usually come back and read other posts. I am always willing to see both sides of an argument and sometimes I've changed my opinion on some things.
