i would say yeah.. id never do it. I know you cant talk through the film but still nice to go with friends. Make it a social experience else you might as well just wait for the dvd/blu ray release and pay £5 and then watch it as many times as you like

Depends on the venue and film ... could be _iewed as sad if you visited IMAX and watched say avatar in 3d alone ... but going to the cornerhouse watching hors satan alone makes you a fine film buff

Went to see Jango unchained last night, my own and wasn't sad at all. I had a cinema card and sometime just drive there at any time to watch a movie without feeling the need to go with someone. Yes having somebody to chat to is fine and the group drink and meal before the movie is also nice. But it is not sad to be alone sometime. I came back home with phone numbers some days

never done it before but wouldnt have a problem going to the cinema on my own. if there is something you want to see and noone else you know wants to see it you may aswell. Noone is going to judge you for it

No not at all .... No different to browsing round the shops or sitting in a coffee shop or going to the gym or swim on your own. I love the peace and quiet of my own company to get away from the frenetic everyday things. We shouldn't feel frightened to spend time alone.

And also if you're single and and you're friends are busy why shouldn't you? It shows a get on and do attitude and what else are you supposed to do? Sit in and sulk? DO IT!

Not at all, I enjoy watching a film without distractions and have recently signed up for a cinema membership so I can watch what I want when I want. Yes it's sometimes nice to go with others, but if I waited for people to be free or to want to watch the same films as me I would miss out on loads. The membership costs less than going to see two films a month and means I can go whenever I want.

Not sad at all, enjoying your own company and being self sufficient is the sign of a well rounded person not a sad one (unless of course you never interact with anyone else)

. So go and enjoy yourself, just think no one to pinch all the popcorn.

Like Pearl says, If I didn't do things on my own I'd never do anything.

Totally ignore the person who says wait for the dvd or blue ray, there's a world of differences in the experience.

People are talking about the films NOW so if you want to join in any conversation about the film you need to see it NOW too.

If you wait for the dvd etc most people you know will say 'seen it' when you want to put it on.

The cinema is one place you can go alone without feeling too conspicuous. People are watching the film not watching other people like in the pub and it's dark too.

Look at the alternative. Sitting at home ALONE watching crap t.v.

Go and see a film. You are in different surroundings which is good for you, doing current things and not letting singledom stop you from joining in.

YOu get to see other human beings even if it's only in a queue or at the sweety stall. The weirdo in the queue is part of your convo with others the next day ( do try not to be the weirdo in the Q )

GO OUT.

We are a happily married couple, but i (male) love spending time on my own, usually out on my bike , or motorbike ... dont think its sad at all as i love the peace of no one around

Why on earth would it be sad to get out and do something you want to do.

Would it not be more the case of being 'sad' if you felt you couldn't do something you wanted to just because you wanted to do it on your own?

Lots of people go to the cinema on their own, because they work shifts or have an afternoon off when their friends don't.... or just because they want to see something for their own enjoyment.

I'd say it's more sad to miss out on doing something you want to do just because you haven't got somebody to go along with you. Everyone has increasingly busy lives and if you're forever waiting on other people so that you can do something? How much of your life are going to waist?

As someone else has already said, being confident and comfortable to spend time on your own is a positive thing.

If you are going on your own, but still feel self-conscious about it, simply wear a pair of horn-rimmed spectacles and carry a clipboard and make plenty tutting sounds while you pretend to write notes....

I see nothing wrong with doing things alone ... like you say people alone would not do alot ..if had to always do things with others .... I love being alone at times i never know what and who i may come across had some fun times. I crave to be alone at times as always family around .

Nope. Me and the OH like different types of films, so we often go on our own. I watched Django on my own last night and there were quite a few others on their own there

Almost always go on my own to the pictures - my mates are into chick flix so when a text comes round saying "Who fancies going to see 36.5 Bridesmaids Love Fluffy Puppies?" I always reply "Thanks but I'd rather poke my eyes out with a rusty roofing nail"...On occasion, if there's been a decent action film on one of the other screens, I've scrounged a ride to the cinema with them and gone to see the film I like (tight biatch, but it is a 50 mile round trip)

Been to the cinema many times myself through work. If a new film is out and I am in a different town. It kills a couple of hours and better than drinking all the time.

Doing things on your own can be so different and sometimes better. I find this with travelling. If you're with people you know you tend to keep to yourselves. If you're on your own you can get chatting / meeting all sorts of people that you wouldn't have done.

Nothing wrong with it at all! Saves arguements about which film to see, who sits next to the odd looking bloke/hot blonde (if your tickets are allocated seating)and if it's crap you can get up and leave without worrying that your company has no taste in movies and will be pissed off that you're happier waiting for them in the pub next door!

Some things in life are best done alone to save arguements.

Like "Who's sleeping in the wet patch!"

i usually go to the cinema alone, i prefer it to be honest people dont keep talking to you mid film if your alone

Its not as if going to the flicks is a night out, you go, watch a film and go home so why is it sad to not take anyone with you?
