Video on news of the Stop the Oil protestor who Johnny Bairstow carried off the cricket pitch being punched and kicked during a protest. Have drivers had enough. It's all over the news. What's going on here guys

I read that the protestor caused a car crash and the driver attacked them. I’ve seen the video but it doesn’t show what happened beforehand.

I agree with JSO’s cause but IF their actions have caused an accident then it’s hard to feel sorry for the “victim” of the attack.

Any kind of violence is going too far - but it does seem people are exasperated by them now. They should protest in Whitehall instead of blocking the road for normal people trying to get about their lives.

I think the worst thing is that the regular person they're disrupting aren't the main culprits for causing climate change. They have a right to protest, but they're targeting the wrong people

Things to consider.

We've known about the health dangers of fossil fuels since the Victorian era.

Science has been warning about climate impact of fossil fuels since the 50s.

These things have been actively protested against since the 80s.

We know what is happening and governments are still dragging their feet.

In terms of protests.

If protests are convenient their is no impetus to either listen or make them stop. Science has been screaming at society and government to do something for over 50-years to prevent what is happening.

Understandably, they're pissed off.

We celebrate Ghandi, Mandela, Rosa Parks, the Suffragettes, MLK.

All of whom were involved in incredibly disruptive, and often illegal, acts of social disobedience.

In many cases people died.

Considering that people have often resorted to rioting and acts of terrorism on less important issues if your most upset about someone being late for work, give your head a wobble.

I'm just surprised that it's taken this long for one of them to be assaulted and I'm still surprised and amazed by the patience and restraint of the British public.

It doesn't make it right but it shows that JSO are alienating their audience and I do think they either need to start protesting in a more considerate way or the police need to break up their silly antics quicker before somebody gets SERIOUSLY hurt or worse.

The irony is that most of their belongings will likely contain oil based products.

Their Hi-Vis vests certainly do.

Incidentally, wasn't there a lady who died because the protestors wouldn't let the traffic move to let the ambulance through?(this was a while back)

I personally am bored with all this virtue signalling and blaming “the government”.

Governments can’t do anything - the _only_ thing that will _actually_ make a difference is people changing _their_ behaviour on a daily basis. People is us. You, me and everyone on this thread.

Now I am sure that everyone is going to pile in and say that _they_ are doing everything they can but frankly that is crap. No you are not. I am not. None of us are.

Maybe you will say that this is the most important thing facing us and you would love to make a difference but you can’t because the infrastucture isn’t in place or the technology or what ever. You are right. It isn’t. So my question to you is: why are you not dropping everything and inventing that technology and creating that infrastructure? Why are you not actively putting together viable businesses that will change the future?

You are not doing that because you don’t _actually_ think this is the most important issue.

Glueing yourself to the pavement, throwing orange glitter or slow walking through London isn’t going to change the world. It is style over substance.

Actions speak louder than words and I don’t see many people putting actions that will change the future into play.

What are you _actually_ doing that will make a real impact on helping people to solve this problem?

JSO are helping the government to create a police state.

Turns out JSO caused the guy who punched one to have a collision whilst his pregnant girlfriend was in the car.If anyone put my pregnant girlfriend/wife at risk they would get more than punched.

Interesting that as yet no Women's rights organisation(or any other pressure group) has come forward and condemned JSO for it.

I agree, it’s a disaster. It was only 20 degrees here. That’s diabolical for mid july.
