" I loose the Council Tax discount, end up having to clear up after someone else cos they don’t put things where I want them put. You don’t have to move in together to get your free massages, infact I’d need one more if they moved in so I could de-stress

"I was listening to one talking about it and it was interesting. He was talking about memories from when he went to college and there a question came about it, he remembered how the teacher asked the class if you could move in together if you are not married. So, if you could you would raise your hand and if couldnt do it, you wouldnt raise it. There were 30 pupils in the class where 27 hands went up and 3 didnt, so the majority wouldnt mind doing it. What about about you, could you move in together if you are a couple before getting married? I could and I wouldnt have any problems with it. Personally, I dont see how a piece of paper makes a lot of difference to a relationship, it definitely comes down to personal choice " We lived together a few years before we wed, didn't seem out of the ordinary in any way.

And a marriage is not just a piece of paper. It’s a legally binding contract and you are agreeing to share your wealth in the event of a future divorce. It’s not something to be entered into lightly.

"TBF Marriage is a bit more than 'a piece of paper'. It's a legally binding contract is my understanding of it." I was reluctant to move in with my bf without getting married cos it involved moving abroad. That was back in the 00s and he was very perplexed and embarrassed cos he saw everyone in the uk cohabited, no question about it. In my culture nobody did, no question about it. He was at the tender age of 22 so admittedly too young. Immigration laws changed with Brexit and for a stretch of months/years despite our marriage I had no claim to living here, so that was an interesting experience! Our kids are "legit" tho so that's something

"We lived together for seven years before we got married. I disagree that marriage is 'just a piece of paper'. If people don't want to marry for whatever reason I respect that, just don't dismiss my marriage in those terms. " We probably won't, but 1000% it's more than a piece of paper... its all about the meaning of it personally to you 2

Dismissing cohabiting couples with the phrase 'Oh they're just living together' is equally disrespectful in my view.
