I was in a similar position at a similar age. It took about 3 years of working on myself and realising that I didn’t want or need a relationship to be happy and about a week later the woman I ended up marrying walked into my life.

I read somewhere once it takes two years.

After my first boyfriend it took me two years to actually want another man's company and not be angry and man hating.

After the second.... completely different. I joined fab after about a year. I knew any man hatred wouldn't last anyway.

Besides that....it hurts, you have to learn to let go of the questions you won't get answers too, and god that part is a Bitch. Swallow the truth of it all and realise you have to move on for your sanity and happiness.

And know that being single for a good length of time is actually amazing for your own personal growth. I truly think that people who aren't single for long periods of time struggle more in certain ways.

Unless of course you lost someone because they passed away....that I couldn't even comment on. That's entirely different.

But the amount of drinks is zero. Drinking at this time is only permitted in the presence of girl pals who will rub your back, hold your hair & tell you you’re pretty

As a 51yr old, who's been there, many times, I can absolutely promise Op you (your friend) will be ok. It will slowly dull to just sitting in the background of your thoughts and heart. Having fun, and new experiences stops you from over thinking, and letting the memories consume you!

Then the next one that hurts you, doesn't sting quite as bad, and you get over them just a little quicker! Sending you (your friend hugs) PM if you want to xxx
