I was in a fast food chop house the other day.

I noticed 88p went as VAT, on asking why, I was told "it because youre eat in".

Now, if I were to hold dinner parties (beans on toast/fish finger butty parties) and state them as being ''''work related events'''' - could I claim this back as a tax loophole!

You could only claim the VAT back if those eating the beans on toast and fish finger butties were part of your company as it falls under the subsistance rules. If you are entertaining a client then no vat can be claimed. Whether you can claim an allowance against corporation or personal tax is at the moment a big debate with HMRO.
