"Im a proud trade union member... Yet you seem to have no appreciation of the fundamental power of industrial action when its most painful for the company ![]() Of course i do, what a stupid comment What im saying is that striking at a place like Gatwick would have the same effect in term time as it would in the summer holidays. Gatwick would loose millions anytime there is a strike and would quickly try to resolve it, it just hurts the working man more in the summer holls

"Im a proud trade union member... Yet you seem to have no appreciation of the fundamental power of industrial action when its most painful for the company ![]() no it won't. the more disruption caused, the more long term reputational damage caused and the greater the long term financial damage. I now actively avoid flying from Brum due to the utter clusterfuck of the last time i flew in and out of there (a disaster of their own making, not the staff)

"Im a proud trade union member... Yet you seem to have no appreciation of the fundamental power of industrial action when its most painful for the company ![]() I get that, and i fully understand striking in the busiest days , but we are talking about Gatwick here, any disruption on any day of the year im guessing will cost them millions. There will be hundreds or thousands of families who will have their holidays cancelled if this goes ahead. They will be hurt the most as its summer holidays for the kids

"Im a proud trade union member... Yet you seem to have no appreciation of the fundamental power of industrial action when its most painful for the company ![]() I think it's less the cost (though I suspect the financial impact is also higher) but because it's so busy that the strikes will be harder to mitigate, and therefore have more impact. The company will want to minimise the disruption - and be under pressure from the very families you're talking about - so be more likely to negotiate, is what I assume the strikers' logic to be.
