Chefs and cook books

How many do you own? Do you have a favourite chef? Do you follow recipes to the T? Do you set aside time for cooking certain dishes?

Ditto and only realy use for exact measurements like for examole in cakes. I like to experiment. Many recipes start with the same basic ingredients and if you know all that can just add other stuff and a bit of common sense and off you go.

I don't bake much nowadays. I might put that on my list for winter pastimes.

She isn't a chef but the most useful recipe books I have are by Mary Berry. I also have a really old recipe book that was my mum's, it consists of recipes contributed by the general public and is huge. It covers almost everything even has a recipe for lager and has come in very handy.

I own no recipe books, which is funny I guess as I meet chefs on a daily basis.

I don't really have a favourite chef, but I find Grant Achatz quite fascinating, he's kind of an American version of Heston Blumenthal.

I don’t have any actual cooking books. I follow a lot of foodie pages on Instagram, so I just have a saved folder of recipe videos that I want to try

Paul Ainsworth isn't your average celebrity chef, he's working hard at his restaurants every week, and running around like a headless chicken, yet he still makes time for fans, even when he won't benefit financially from it. You have to admire that.

TV Chefs thing in the 90s and noughties! I got my immersion in British culture when I got to this country by watching them!

I got them all- Gary Rhodes, Nigella, even a bit of Ainsley and Rick Stein! I used to pore over their cookbooks and I had a massive crush over James Martin for a long time.. Yorkshire accent included!

I also have many the classics, from Mrs Beeton’s to Leith’s Cookery Bible and French Provincial Cooking and Cooking with wine from Elizabeth David.

It’s been probably years since I last opened one of my cookbooks. social media and instant gratification looking up a recipe on TikTok…

I've that many of them I couldn't tell you how many. There tends to be only about two or three recepies that I've done from each one though, and because my dinner parties were renowned, what does everyone give me at Christmas and birthdays? Another bloody cook book!

My local community centre takes in unwanted books and sells them to raise funds for local charities. So if you have books you don't use that might be an idea for your local area plus free up some space.

That being said.... I don't own any lol

I have about twenty books and dip into them every week, they are mainly by Gordon Ramsey, Jamie Oliver, Nigel Slater and Nigella. I’ve not brought a new one in about 10 years, if I see a recipe I like the look of then I find it on line and print it off. I’ve got two lever arch files which are full of printed recipes.

My fave chef is Michel Roux, he seems a nice guy and is inspirational to many young chefs. I’ve eaten in one of his places and it was food heaven.

I struggled to find it but I think it's this one. There are a few threads but this has the most roper recipes on with instructions. I hope it helps.
