how do you feel about people visiting the area you live… would you meet them on a social ..or perhaps more?

If you would be happy to meet them … how long before they arrive would you like them to get in touch? Weeks to build up? Days? Or a once they’re there?

I’ll meet anyone at anytime if available

Tonypandy.

If they are randomly contacting me because they are 'in the area', I'm not interested.

If they contact me in advance, explain they are visiting on X dates, and the online conversation is good, I'd meet them socially.

If it's someone I know generally online, visiting the area, then yes, I'll do all I can to be free.

If it's a friend, they had better becoming to stay at mine.

Maybe a few weeks to build up anticipation. And because I'm quite busy and there are only four people on Fab I'd say yes to seeing if they were in my area tomorrow.

Right now I'm very much a social only first time I meet someone sort of woman. Who knows? In the future that might change. A tad unlikely though.

Seems fair…. The building a connection / chatting before arrival is the key

I’m not geographically discriminate. If someone seems nice and we click well over a few messages, I’m happy to meet them.

I’ve been the one passing through other places and lovely local Fabbers have agreed to meet me. I’m fine with the shoe being on the other foot, as if were.

Ah yes the “I’m in your area tomorrow wanna meet between 3 and 5?” approach.

No. Treating people like a utility isn’t sexy.

But what about the … I’m in your area for a few weeks in a couple of weeks… would you like to chat to see if we ‘click’ and then maybe when I visit we could maybe sample a social?

There's no hard fast rules. If the conversation flows we will meet someone who's just overnighting or people who are preplanning. We do the same when we're visiting somewhere, message some before getting there to dip toes in and public our profile and message others when we get there.

I’ve met a passing traveller once. I’m not sure it counts though as we’d been speaking for months beforehand.

Although by “passing through” it still meant some journey by either party….

Actually my story is shit and doesn’t count.

No. I wouldn’t

See you read that as it’s written, whereas I read the implicit code when it’s being directed to someone who isn’t heteronormative. Same words, different implications.

This is an interesting one. I have been making regular trips up north to the wirral for the last few months. I've been able to visit townhouse and a couple of other clubs but hadn't really thought about arranging any meets, not that I use fab to do this anyway, as I am acutely aware of those 'I'm in your area' messages from our couples profile.

Anyway, I was just sitting having a look through fab when a humorous profile made me laugh. Uncharacteristically I dropped a message just to let them know I'd had a chuckle and amazingly I got a response. We chatted for a couple of days, seemed to get on and then just arranged to meet. It was a great time and we hope to meet again soon but it was most unexpected. So I guess you just never know, sometimes the stars align and people just click

Speak to them beforehand for a while before agreeing to meet them socially.

Advance notice they're going to be nearby is also preferred

I used to travel a fair bit with work, I’d always under take due diligence first on the area to find potential people I’d consider meeting, as you say messaging first explaining and being transparent about the situation was a lot better, gives the chance to ensure you were on the same vibe as well.

I used to prefer these types of encounters

Now though first meets are nearly always just social and I was very lucky to meet a few lovely fabbers when I was just passing through last week. Granted most of them id been chatting to on and off for a while.

I'd happily meet people socially if we click but unlikely to be without a bit of chatting etc first
