Who has a cleaner?

Genuine question, do you have a cleaner and are they worth the cost? I’m contemplating hiring one but still undecided.

My dad has a cleaner. If you're clear about what you want done and to what standard and realistic about the time it takes to achieve that, a cleaner is worth it. If you become too friendly so that it's difficult to point out when they haven't done the job properly and you feel obliged to chat, a cleaner isn't worth it.

It's a tiny one bedroom cottage, she'll do my washing if I've not done it, change the bedding as well.

Yup, they’ve been this morning and the house looks great. I think it’s about £70 for two to clean for a couple of hours.

I did until covid, haven't since then but should really get another. It means my time off is my time off, I get very little and like enjoying it. Get one, you won't regret it.

We have cleaners. We had a few solo people initially who weren't much good, to be honest, then we got lucky and discovered a Polish couple who run their business together. He will actually lift sofas for her to vacuum under, rather than just skirting round the edges. When there's nothing to be lifted, he goes out into the garden, does the lawn and raking etc. It all feels a bit decadent, but so worth it.

We have a cleaner, once a week for an hour or 2, just to keep onto of the jobs that often get forgotten.

The Mrs is considering getting into nude cleaning actually

Yes we have a cleaner. £15 an hour. Helps us massively as we spend a lot of time working from home and would prefer to get out and about with our spare time than be at home some more.

I had one, but they didn’t clean to my standards. So replaced them with someone who talked the talk, but also didn’t clean anywhere near to my standards.

So I sacked them off and continue to clean myself. It’s a pain as they were meant to free up more time but if you want a job doing properly …

Maybe I was just unlucky (or too picky? Who knows) but I did wonder what their homes were like if that was their definition of cleaning (untouched dusty skirting boards, behind the back of the toilet seat dusty and untouched, streaky cookers etc)

Search wisely - test them out first. Good luck!

Yes, and the cost is more than worth it as it gives me back so much of my own (limited) free time. I’ve had the same cleaner for a few years and never had a complaint.

I do. And she’s a godsend. I work full time and am so knackered I don’t have the beans to do it all myself. She does the house on a Friday afternoon and I can keep on top of it then
