Shouldn't produce the little crotch gremlins then should they.

If they don't like it, they know what they should do. Leave. Teachers do most of the work for them anyway.

That's how it works isn't it?

Don't like the conditions, then find another job. That's what the "should X be allowed to strike" threads have taunt me.

Of course not. But I was an awesome kid, so the conditions were exceptional and in no need for a parent strike.

Don't tell them that! It's much more fun to see them get worked up!

Ya know, tongue in cheek thread requires for tongue in cheek replies.

"I mean they chose to have kids, noone forced them to."

In general I have a lot of sympathy for parents, but it's often this that gets me.

"You should be more grateful your parents chose to have you, and you should choose the same!"

So because my parents made a choice, my choices should be more constrained? Fuck off with that.

No nuns today. We (from last year) escaped and went for a splendid slap-up tapas lunch in a hidden away plaza. Very agreeable.

Theoretically yes. It's a democratic society, we are governed by consent. So people have an inherent right to protest and strike, if the terms and conditions set are unacceptable.

Don't like it leave is the attitude that leads to escalation. What was it JFK said? If you ignore peaceful protest, violent protest becomes inevitable. Shot that dude bit of irony there somewhere.

Angry parent riots for the win. A las barricadas! They got the guns we got the numbers!

"Shouldn't produce the little crotch gremlins then should they.

Yeah because those teachers are so helpful in helping me get the additional educational help my child needs.

Or that they lack basic understanding of STEM subjects because they're too difficult. That I spend my free time on weekends trying to inspire and educate the kids myself with an epic team of volunteers.

There are some amazing teachers, but a lot are uninterested and only want to do good enough for the next inspection. So kids with special needs are ignored. So I battle for my kids and do extra research to try and get them to work at their potential.

I could rant on but meh, teachers are all amazing and are raising my children for me

I got mine when my daughter was born. At the hospital there and then. But I only started this job 3 years ago.

Anyway serious note: For me, people would value parents more but because rearing / raising and housework associated with it is unpaid labour it isn’t. Angela Davis writes about in pre capitalist communities they valued this labour as much as work outside the home. But obviously work outside the home in capitalist society brings in money and therefore brings more benefits.

Also Gender roles, gender socialisation, this stuff generally falling on women, double/triple shift etc etc. you know the vibes. Capitalism, patriarchy etc.

It’s true. I dint know who Angela DAVIS is but I’ve read about women pre the 3 main sexual raptures ( organised religion, politics, capitalism) and they were valued very highly, even worshipped as gods for bringing and nurturing life
