My biggest issue is not meal planning /prepping and being guilty of skipping meals. I will get there though. Good luck everyone x " Yep, the prep work is a bummer. I'm up at all hours some days. "I've gained so much weight during my maternity leave. I weigh more now than I did 3 days before giving birth. I'm back to work on Monday so I'm hoping it will give me the motivation to lose the 3 stone that I need. I'm so miserable at this weight that I'm not doing any meets incase they find me as disgusting as I find myself " Take one day at a time. As anyone in the thread will tell you, there will be good days and bad. For me, my journey started with making one small change (made the choice to start walking more) and celebrating each little win. The problem we can sometimes have is we csn try to do too much too quickly. Try making a very small, achievable change. Thr feeling you get from achieving it will give you the drive and momentuem to continue on

You have to change to a high protein low carb diet which is fine by me, I live on chicken, egg, salad and yogurts now but I can eat anything I want but only 3 bites before I'm full

"Heyyy! Jumping on the wagon (not too hard otherwise I’ll go through it ) I was doing great until a few weeks ago and have failed miserably since. I’m terrible - an all or nothing kinda girl so a treat here and there doesn’t work for me really as I can’t just have one biscuit, I have to eat the whole pack So I have to be so so strict on myself. I can happily eat the same things day in day out if I know exactly what I’m having and don’t deviate. Maybe a slight variation of dinners, but protein shake is my best friend for breakfast (as I wouldn’t bother otherwise) and lunch. I need to get the treadmill back down and start moving again too as I irking from home means I’m sat on my (fat wobbly) ass all day! Anyway, that me! " Welcome to the family Everyone's journey is full of ups and downs but what's important is that we keep trying. You would be surprised how sometimes, the smallest things/changes can make a big difference. You will find lots of ideas, encouragement and support in the thread so if you are ever struggling, leave a comment in the thread and we will do what we can

"Woke up in pain from my back and endometriosis playing up today so I have decided to kick my own ass and try and stick to 1500 calories or less. Should hopefully lose 1-2lbs a week and I can still have my chocolate fix (my biscuits are only 85cals each as long as I don't eat the whole pack). I really have to do something, official weigh in day is Monday but I jumped on the scales this morning and have already gained 2lbs this week so hopefully that will go over the weekend " Hope you feel better soon x

Things like water weight and bloating (especially for women around period time) can be very de-motivating. Also, take belly/hips/bum measurements and photos, don’t just go with the scales as your only measurement of success. Eg I have lost 7 pound in the last year, but I have gone from a 42” waist to a 38” waist and lost 12cm off my gut. Don’t be tied to the pounds and ounces

Its amazing how crap I feel when I eat crap and yet I still do it. Put the weight I lost back on and am back to feeling like crap. I think I am poisoning myself with all the chemicals in the junk I eat. Got a bit of a cold ATM as well so just feel slow, grotty and uncomfortable in my own skin. Congrats on all of you that are progressing on your journey and as always a big thanks to Mr Black for keeping the tread ticking along x A great piece of advice I got was to think month-to-month not week-to-week. Don’t be tied to the pounds and ounces" Very helpful advice Well done on your journey so far

"So After having a really bad week or so with food, I decided to see how bad things had gotten. I weighed myself. To my surprise, not only had I not put any weight on, I had lost half a stone. I was shocked." Well done you!!!! P

Also (1) take photos - visual signs of progress are v powerful, and (2) take measurements as well - belly, hips, arse. Water weight is a thing, don’t be tied to the scales

"So, seeing how I still haven't gotten to the gym, I am trying to make better choices with my diet. I'm starting tomorrow so will be having a pizza tonight as a final treat for the foreseeable. I have made a meal plan, bought all the ingredients and plan on batch cooking so (hopefully) there should be no excuses. Wish me luck" Wishing you the very bestest of luck! Enjoy your pizza x

"Over the last 2 years I have reduced my weight. Was nearly 80 kg. Now around 65, good for my age (74) and height (175 cm). Everyone knows eating to excess is the problem. The difficulty is finding a way of shedding calories without too much strain. So, to eat less. Our way has been to shed one meal a day. In our case, it is lunch. It does not take long to get used to it. " Awesome Keep on keeping on

"Doing well at the moment We joined Slimming World in mid August and it's really helped. Maybe it's down to going there once a week and weighing in, it keeps us focused, but it's working well. 5st 3lbs lost between us in 11 weeks." Brilliant, sometimes having that weekly meeting routine can really make the difference.

"So guys This week I have made more of an effort with the food I have been eating. I made a vegan chilli on Monday and had it in jacket potatoes (Monday) and rice Tuesday. Wednesday I made meat replacement and vegetable curry of which there are leftovers for today. Going to make a meal plan for next week. Heres to week 2 of being better with food choices" I so need to do that. Definitely planning ahead would help me. Sounds like you've got a grip on things your end.

"I feel like weight is perception. There are always parts that look different to the rest. Legs, stomach, thighs, or neck. I personally love your shape.xxx " Thanks I'm currently trying to make better choices with my eating. If I'm not making it to the gym, it's the least I can do

"Could do with shifting a couple of stone at moment, can’t get motivated " Start off with small, manageable changes. Maybe try a little more walking or starting to make eat smaller portions at a time and work up from there

"Last April I gave myself a year to lose 3 stone. I’ve not long hit the 2 stone mark so I’ll hopefully make it " Congrats Nora! That's a fantastic achievement! I was weighed at a recent 12 month medical check up and was gobsmacked when they said I'd lost 1+1/2 stone. Exercise has been tough-going due to post-surgical nerve damage in my leg, but a diabetes diagnosis meant I had to learn to be more rigid with my diet (re; carb intake). It's hard work, but worth it I'm sure you will have absolutely no problem achieving your goal! I'll be rooting for you

I walk 5 miles a day which I think has made a big difference. It’s hard enough to make myself do it sometimes without health issues! xx

When my mum was in her 50s, she put on a lot during her menopause. She got herself a dog, and with all the walks it dropped off. I have recently started walking, on the docs advice to help my leg heal, but it's a very slow, gradual process. Do you use an app to track your mileage? x

"Hey guys Hope you all are well Anyone out/been out during Christmas party season?" Well hello again x I've been doing the social butterfly seasonal stuff but avoided the "works dinners" Generally feeling crap atm and that's largely due to the crap I'm eating. Sugar, stodge with little nutrition whatsoever. Holidays start this week so I will be formulating plans ;-p

Fortunately the "body positivity movement" means there are plenty of curvilicious bodies around so I don't feel like a freakshow exhibit when I'm out shaking my sizable booty. I have a rare totally work free week so I might get off somewhere for an adventure.

I'm off to Torquay for a week from the 23rd. Looking forward to relaxing and recharging. Got my priorities right (all the alcohol is sorted ) I'm just going to enjoy the last few days of the year and start thinking about next year's goals when the time comes.

"Hey guys So this year, I am not setting any weight loss goals. Instead, I will be choosing to eat better and be more active. I'm hoping that by doing this and focusing less on hitting targets, I will have a better year. Wish me luck guys " Good luck I’m the same, it’s more about non scale victories I was back at my first outdoor bootcamp session of 2024 this morning and tomorrow evening I’m joining a beginners running club as I’ve signed myself up to a few races
