Really good thread!

I started gaining weight over Christmas last year, like we all do and I've set goals!

Really got into running and signed up for the marathon next year! My advice is set goals and stay focused, maybe sign up to something so you have something to train for etc!

Support all of you xx

Maybe just start with walking. I think sometimes we put too much pressure on ourselves by making our goals too big. I kept falling down with this until I started really small.

Deepest darkest Peru

I try to not put the onus on stones, lbs and BMI as I found I was beating myself up over them.

So now I focus on that I eat well, and exercise which can be anything from hitting my daily steps target, a fitness class at the gym or a bootcamp session. I’d like to tone up a bit more but I’m not going to put too much pressure on myself

My weight is stable and I’m five stone lighter than four and a half year ago

I have put so much weight after my endometriosis diagnosis with menopause combined.

Due to chronic pain I’m not that physically active as I used to be just a year ago.

I’m back now on clean keto with 20/4 intermittent fasting, and stopped self medicating with alcohol which has helped immensely.

Always up for a group support as I know it’s very tough on your own.

I rejoined slimming world last Wednesday. Probably not the best time given its been my birthday but. I'll focus properly after tomorrow.

I'm hoping to drop at least 3.5 stone. A long way to go.

My biggest issue is not meal planning /prepping and being guilty of skipping meals.

I will get there though.

Good luck everyone x

I can say I stick to my fasting routine religiously and I feel like it’s working.

Haven’t touched alcohol in a month and I can see the difference.

I don’t obsess over weight anymore but go by how my clothes fit, how my mood is and energy levels.

So far so good.

I’m interested to see how is everyone doing, hope it’s all going well but even if it doesn’t, one step at a time works wonders.

Intermittent fasting 20/4 with 4 being my eating window, 20 being fasting window.

So I eat only between 10am - 2pm, water, herbal tea and black coffee after.

A wee update for me. I'm in week 2 of slimming world and I'm sticking to plan religiously. 2nd weigh in tomorrow night and I'm aiming for my shiny half stone sticker. I'll be gutted if I've not got there this week. I genuinely didn't try the first week and wrote it off due to birthday celebrations so my 3lb off last Wednesday was a fluke!

I'm most definitely a woman on a mission with this now though, and I'm already feeling so much better because I'm not eating all the junk food on the run that I used to. It's actually not been too bad on the planning or the cooking side of things and I'm saving money too when I'm not buying things I used to.

I hope everyone is having a good week whatever they are doing.

Still need to get more active and eat better but hey, it is all about the small wins.

Take one day at a time. As anyone in the thread will tell you, there will be good days and bad. For me, my journey started with making one small change (made the choice to start walking more) and celebrating each little win. The problem we can sometimes have is we csn try to do too much too quickly. Try making a very small, achievable change. Thr feeling you get from achieving it will give you the drive and momentuem to continue on

Yes, you just aren't hungry after a sleeve so I set reminders at various points during the day to make me eat. You have to change to a high protein low carb diet which is fine by me, I live on chicken, egg, salad and yogurts now but I can eat anything I want but only 3 bites before I'm full

Heyyy! Jumping on the wagon (not too hard otherwise I’ll go through it )

I was doing great until a few weeks ago and have failed miserably since. I’m terrible - an all or nothing kinda girl so a treat here and there doesn’t work for me really as I can’t just have one biscuit, I have to eat the whole pack

So I have to be so so strict on myself. I can happily eat the same things day in day out if I know exactly what I’m having and don’t deviate. Maybe a slight variation of dinners, but protein shake is my best friend for breakfast (as I wouldn’t bother otherwise) and lunch. I need to get the treadmill back down and start moving again too as I irking from home means I’m sat on my (fat wobbly) ass all day!

Anyway, that me!

Not at all. It is expensive in the UK, about £12,000, but I paid £3,000 and the hospital, treatment, safety and care were second to none and the aftercare is excellent.

Woke up in pain from my back and endometriosis playing up today so I have decided to kick my own ass and try and stick to 1500 calories or less. Should hopefully lose 1-2lbs a week and I can still have my chocolate fix (my biscuits are only 85cals each as long as I don't eat the whole pack).

I really have to do something, official weigh in day is Monday but I jumped on the scales this morning and have already gained 2lbs this week so hopefully that will go over the weekend

Personal fantasy is to meet someone here who I could help with excervise and healthy eating. And get her in the gym with me (on my guest pass) to show her the best way to get into shape but keep her curves… she can pay me in kind

It is a long road but ill health put an enormous amount of weight onto me but with support from both hubby and our consultant I have lost 5 stone on slimming world but still a long way to go.

Have gone from size 28/30 to 24/26 but sadly my tits stop me getting any smaller sized clothing... Thank fully I am a nudist so going naked is always a superb option for me lol

I did consider looking for a "diet Dom" for a "reward and punishment" regime but I'm very stubborn and not at all submissive so it would probably work against my goals.

It had been going good for me over the last month. Lost a stone by making some better choices. The last week I've been a bit crap and really felt a downward spiral in my "feel good factor". Its amazing how crap I feel when I eat crap and yet I still do it.

Happens to the best of us. We all have moments/days/weeks where we dont do or feel great. What I like to do in times like this is focus on my goals and re-set/re-start them as necessary. I start small and build up again. Plus, you also have the wonderful peolle in the thread for pick me ups too

The fact you thought it would be more is a win in itself.

Use it as motivation for the week ahead.

0.5 off this week. I'm pretty gutted. I really had been so good. I mean I even felt guilty over the toast I had yesterday.

Out all weekend so to even maintain next week will require a miracle.

I was almost right with my earlier prediction of 5 stone in 15 weeks, I've lost 5 and a half stone, so still on a rapid downwards trend. Was a size 24, now a size 18. Gastric sleeve was the best thing I've ever done for myself.

A great piece of advice I got was to think month-to-month not week-to-week. Things like water weight and bloating (especially for women around period time) can be very de-motivating. Also, take belly/hips/bum measurements and photos, don’t just go with the scales as your only measurement of success. Eg I have lost 7 pound in the last year, but I have gone from a 42” waist to a 38” waist and lost 12cm off my gut. Don’t be tied to the pounds and ounces

This is great advice. Also (1) take photos - visual signs of progress are v powerful, and (2) take measurements as well - belly, hips, arse. Water weight is a thing, don’t be tied to the scales

So, seeing how I still haven't gotten to the gym, I am trying to make better choices with my diet. I'm starting tomorrow so will be having a pizza tonight as a final treat for the foreseeable.

I have made a meal plan, bought all the ingredients and plan on batch cooking so (hopefully) there should be no excuses.

Wish me luck

Over the last 2 years I have reduced my weight. Was nearly 80 kg. Now around 65, good for my age (74) and height (175 cm).

Everyone knows eating to excess is the problem. The difficulty is finding a way of shedding calories without too much strain. So, to eat less.

Our way has been to shed one meal a day. In our case, it is lunch. It does not take long to get used to it.

Doing well at the moment

We joined Slimming World in mid August and it's really helped.

Maybe it's down to going there once a week and weighing in, it keeps us focused, but it's working well.

5st 3lbs lost between us in 11 weeks.

Congrats Nora! That's a fantastic achievement!

I was weighed at a recent 12 month medical check up and was gobsmacked when they said I'd lost 1+1/2 stone. Exercise has been tough-going due to post-surgical nerve damage in my leg, but a diabetes diagnosis meant I had to learn to be more rigid with my diet (re; carb intake). It's hard work, but worth it

I'm sure you will have absolutely no problem achieving your goal! I'll be rooting for you

Thank you! And well done you! Must be so much harder too with health issues. I walk 5 miles a day which I think has made a big difference. It’s hard enough to make myself do it sometimes without health issues! xx

It’s hard enough to make myself do it sometimes without health issues! xx"

Yeah, walking is great for weight loss. When my mum was in her 50s, she put on a lot during her menopause. She got herself a dog, and with all the walks it dropped off. I have recently started walking, on the docs advice to help my leg heal, but it's a very slow, gradual process. Do you use an app to track your mileage? x

We are still having some success. Joined Slimming World in August and I'm down 3st 11.5lbs and she's down 2st 11.5lbs.

Hoping to hit the combined 7st loss this week but it is work Christmas Party season

How is everyone doing?

As the year draws to a close, where are we all with our goals?

Me, I'm a long way off but I have learned a few lessons that I believe will aid me in doing better next year.

"Hey guys

Hope you all are well

Anyone out/been out during Christmas party season?"

Well hello again x

I've been doing the social butterfly seasonal stuff but avoided the "works dinners"

Generally feeling crap atm and that's largely due to the crap I'm eating. Sugar, stodge with little nutrition whatsoever. Holidays start this week so I will be formulating plans ;-p

Welcome back you

I'm sure all of your plotting and formulating will result in some great results for yourself. Are you doing anything over Christmas or just enjoying the time off work?

I'm up to a bit of this and that. Still out clubbing in my twighlight years so I'll be doing a bit of that. Fortunately the "body positivity movement" means there are plenty of curvilicious bodies around so I don't feel like a freakshow exhibit when I'm out shaking my sizable booty. I have a rare totally work free week so I might get off somewhere for an adventure.

Nothing wrong with a sizeable ass. Can't think of any more pleasing sights.

I'm off to Torquay for a week from the 23rd. Looking forward to relaxing and recharging. Got my priorities right (all the alcohol is sorted )

I'm just going to enjoy the last few days of the year and start thinking about next year's goals when the time comes.

Hey guys

Did we all have a good Christmas?

With 2024 fast approaching, are we setting new goals, trying to achieve the old ones or just going to take one day at a time and see how things progress?

Hey guys

So this year, I am not setting any weight loss goals. Instead, I will be choosing to eat better and be more active. I'm hoping that by doing this and focusing less on hitting targets, I will have a better year.

Wish me luck guys

Good luck

I’m the same, it’s more about non scale victories

I was back at my first outdoor bootcamp session of 2024 this morning and tomorrow evening I’m joining a beginners running club as I’ve signed myself up to a few races

There she is

I'm also working on portion control as I have long been on the see food diet. I'm getting better as I will now leave food once I start to feel full.

I'm sure this year will be a great year for us all

My eating has been poor.

I'm not going to beat myself up about it though. I'm going to be better next week

How is everyone getting on?

I had a strange experience with my scales this week

They were telling me I weighed alot less than I imagined

I always find that when I feel heavier, I am light. When I feel light, I am heavier. Anybody else get like this?
