Soak in a nice warm bath (maybe share the bath). This will soften the skin. Then use a n33dle to tease it out.

Oof! A bit extreme! Might affect other abilities which would reduce enjoyment for all parties. But thanks for the suggestion, I'll keep it as a last resort.
