In my living room. Watching the news of how poorly she was, knowing full well she had already passed away. It was just a case of the family arriving then they publicly announce it. Still came as a shock

P.s. I find it very disrespectful to say “kicked it”, regardless of being about the Queen. She was a person, a family member, a mother, grandmother, etc. You wouldn’t say that a family member if a Fab forumite “kicked it”, would you?

I do not find the phrase 'kicked it' disrespectful no matter who it is used about.

It's a well known phrase. People talk often of 'kicking the bucket' .....

Very often people use euphemisms for death as death is the one part of the life cycle that is given some great mysticism and people steer away from with fear of mention.

I think this forum on when speaking of a death of a person that NO one knew personally 'kicked it ' actually shows someone dancing gingerly around an event and wondering how to address it.

I'm fine with it.

I went for an interview that Friday. Before I went in to the interview, the radio news(in the car) said she was gravely ill.

I came out of the interview having gor the job and also to the news that the Queen had passed.

A bitter sweet day.

It’s amazing how things impact you isn’t it?

I was in a van when it came over to me that our Queen had died. I was shocked, but also amazed at how little impact it had on me. Nothings changed, apart from different lyrics to a song.

At the cinema, in Hove, watching Fisherman Friends. The film suddenly stopped and a young lady entered to give an announcement. The timing was almost spooky because we had just watched a very emotional scene where the main character opened up about the death of his dad.
