But seriously, I believe it to be highly judicious to take a step back, certainly as regards important decisions. It allows one to approach a problem with great mental acumen and heightened logic

I try to. I'm not always brilliant at it but sometimes I'll force myself to stop, look objectively at something and breathe. Try and understand where the other person is coming from.
