Somewhere In The Ether…

….Often a term thrown around indiscriminately and in a highly derisory manner to blanket insult any who hold an interest in environmental issues.

My question however, relates to the literal definition…

Good folks: Have you ever hugged a tree?

What type of tree do you prefer?

I like girth; oak trees really stretch me I find.

Anyone leave a verification for one?

In fact, are there any trees on here?

Anyway, whatever you do, always remember FAB’s golden rule: ‘Treat them with respect.’

Off topic......kind of....

I done a chainsaw course yearssss ago, the instructor had us sniffing the trees saying 'what can you smell?' I was like 'fuck knows', he said 'it's dying'

I had to just agree with him and continued sniffing trees. It was a long week. LONG.

I can’t say I have. I did have a friend at work who used to though, go into the woods to hug trees with her daughter. I never understood why but it seemed to make her happy

Yes since I was a child! Lived near forest and always felt close to the nature.. it didn't help I loved Anne of Green Gables

A massive oak tree in a village I know was my favourite till date to hug. Standing there and thinking how many centuries it witnessed from acorn to this giant I can't wrap my arms around. How many people touched its bark and listened to birds hiding in its branches. How many silly lovers hid behind it on their way to nearby lake to steal a cheeky kiss or three.

Oh I was in Savernake forest the other week and came upon a magnificent tree that was just calling out for a hug. But I didnt and regret it every day It was dusk and I had spooked myself somewhat because the whole forest had a wonderful but slightly spooky feel and I was trying to rush back to my tent before I got whisked off into the twilight fairy kingdom.

I do usually stroke a nice tree though and appreciate its bark.

Whaley Bridge,Nr Buxton,

Regularly hug trees to stop myself falling out of them and yes you can smell when a tree is dying.
