I'm not sure that I'd actively choose someone of notably higher or lower intelligence than myself. I find myself with people I connect with, which tends to mean a similar level I suppose. Though everyone is different, and intelligence is measured in many different ways.

Are we talking actually partners, like spouses or girlfriend/boyfriend?

I've only had one serious one, and I was much better at the core subjects and computing than him-if that's how we're measuring intelligence.

My general knowledge was better too, but he's much more knowledgeable on specific things than I am on anything.

Academic intelligence is nice but I am much more interested in my partner having emotional intelligence. It’s more important to me that we can have emotional intimacy and honesty than that we can have discussions about whether it’s possible to accurately define something using only words and categories

Intelligence is a massive turn on. Academic intelligence and intelligence gained through life experience are both hot. However it is only sexy if they have it but don't talk down to people. As many have said emotional intelligence though is by far the sexiest and most important.

I want stupid conversation, deep conversation, debate and the ability to recognise and communicate emotion. I am not asking too much right?

I don't think I do. I feel like I can e intimidated talk to people smarter than me in case I can't keep up and they think I'm a moron but one thing I've always been good at is asking questions and showing a genuine interest in what they're talking about which I hope offsets my lack of knowledge

Yes; that's it essentially. Although perhaps not enhance, I think I prefer enrich - I like people who enrich my life in some way and I theirs.

A dear friend describes me as fickle which isn't quite true (it might be and I'm reluctant to admit it). I think it's more... I love stimulation. I love conversations that make me think, smile, experience a myriad of emotions and light up some part of me.

It's rather obvious when I'm not feeling particularly stimulated by someone, and no, that's not in a sexual way, and I find myself thinking "fuck this is awfully lacklustre and I'm not really feeling it".

It doesn't mean someone has to be academically gifted but if the conversation is dire I'll be wishing Cornwall was around to gouge out an eye.

99.99% of the time I've always been the more knowledgeable. Intelligent in most things. Not everything though, dated a few nurses for example.

But when it comes to life and general common sense, always been the lesser in a relationship in that regard.
