Trust me. I keep harping on about them but 'soft tampons' or 'sex tampons'. Small sponges you insert, do the do, take out, throw away, shower and go back to your usual menstruation protection. You can get them on amazon.

Beppy, joy Division or gynotex, only buy the wet ones (they have a small amount of lube to make getting them in easier). At first or if your a bit squeemish, shower and douche, then insert, you can keep them in the same length of time as a tampon (depending on how heavy you are).

I no longer use tampons, it's period knicers or sponges.

Health warning:

NEVER use 'natural' or 'sea sponge' they contain bacteria and sand etc and your vagina is too sensitive and precious for you to put it through that.

I've heard it's one of the only "methods" that eases cramps and PMT too.

Only experienced it once, she was married (that's a whole different realm of ethical issues) and was keen but it was a once only opportunity, so I guess I was intrigued but more than happy to try.
