Tell me something about love?

Just been on a cute date with my gf. We were reflecting. Being understood is an underestimated and underrated part of love. Being able to be yourself and being able to be with someone that knows all your thoughts and references and jokes before you even say them. *chefs kiss*

I miss her in the forums (shout out to GeorgiaPeach)

Anyway. Tell me something about love ? What do you love about it? What does it make you feel?

It’s entirely possible to think you know what love is. And then out of nowhere, real love hits you.

Love is the most wonderful, but also most destructively powerful force. Right now I hate it.

Love is Mr KC getting up earlier in the morning to pack the car with my stuff, because it makes my life easier. It's me knowing from just a look that he's not okay and knowing exactly how to soothe him.

Like the wise NCs said, it's having each other's back, no matter what.

We're deeply in love and there's nothing negative about our love. We experience negative things in our lives, but our love and teamwork means we overcome it.

I’ve given love that hasn’t been given back in the same way. And it sucks. Pouring yourself into someone that doesn’t feel the same way is tough. But that love is character building. There are worse things than unrequited love though. Like not loving at all. I think that’s pretty sad.

So here's my take...

True love is when you can feel good about being vulnerable (because you relinquish control over your heart, body and soul when you truly love someone) and trust that you won't be shred to pieces.

Love is knowing how to help when my partner has had a bad day and getting as much of a warm feeling out of it as he does. It's him knowing when I'll want a cup of tea. It's doing the jobs he hates because I don't mind them and him putting the shopping I bought away for me because my body is broken. It's thinking about him while smiling thinking about this.

I like that phrase - it feels like home. Your heart can stop wondering and your soul which grew tired from wandering to find its soul mate can finally stop and focus on growth. Growing together and evolving as a person with your best cheerleader by your side. Someone who sees the treasures in you behind all the locks on your trunk. Someone who isn't afraid to dive deep into feeling. Love is an adventure with a right partner.

Love is trust. If being in love is being vulnerable and knowing the other has your back, then that takes trust. Love is quite sweet and innocent and for the optimistic

Love is something you feel for your children. At least I hope so. There is no love I have felt quite as powerful and the complete absence of self preservation in light of their advancement. As much as the pain of losing someone randomly acquainted is, it pales to the pain of losing someone you truly love and of your lineage is. That pain is torture.

Love, in its truest sense, is unconditional.

It’s often uninvited and it’s usually unexpected.

It just is.

We succumb to it despite how much we swear we’ll never fall for it again.

It shapes us and alludes us.

But what do I know x

I look at love from a different angle the other end. Love is not wanting something to die, hence nourishing, caring, respecting, guiding, protecting and so forth. Love is a connection both physical and emotional. Love is uplifting, doing what makes you happy and it is pretty hard to love if you don’t love yourself, as you can't share what you don't have.

Most forms of love people express are manipulative and fear to control, dominate or exploit. Love can be very much unconditional but that is very rare in a romantic partnership but common from mothers to children. As long as you are an adult human being there are going to be conditions some form of an exchange. Getting attached to this exchange is not love. Love is being interdependent and free, however, your choice will dictate compatibility.

It can be the most amazing thing to happen to you but it's also an extremely vulnerable place to be. You need good people to fall in love with and that's not always easy. Sometimes you find out far too late that they were not good people with good intentions.

If you'd have asked me 10 years ago I'd have probably said it's a made up emotion people use to cling to each other.

Now.....

It's comfort, safety, your best friend and lover in one, it's happiness and laughter, cuddles and tears, dancing in the kitchen, random unexpected cuddles and ass grabs, it's being able to completely be yourself and relax even if you are a weirdo, it's making him a coffee with his favourite spoon even though he's been a dick

It's just the best.

I can answer that. The joy of being poly. You can truly love someone without it being negated by you being on here and having the audacity to enjoy flirting with others.

Actually; I don't think you have to be poly to be able to do that. You can be ethically non-monogamous and enjoy that. Like swingers. Or less ethically - like those who cheat. The amount of people I know who proudly say they love their partner so much and do far more than flirt on here.

Maybe you meant that particular night though.

In my experience it is unconditional love you feel for your children and grandchildren.

I sadly haven’t experienced that in relationships. I have seen couples that do have that love for each other though.

Love has rarely been reciprocated properly for me. Its been faked and it's broken my heart.

Yet,I'm not jaded. I love, love. The feelings and the excitement of lust combined with the comfort, safety and deep emotional connection of love.

I'm not sure I'll find it but I'm always open to it.

Someone who will help me pour in enough love to fill the cracks that are still in my heart.

I guess that's still the dream for me but I'm not searching for it. I think the best loves take you completely by surprise.

Real unconditional love, that is the worlds best motivator, you will do anything, it’s the highest emotion, more than all the others, greed jealousy hate all have limits because deep down you know they are wrong, there’s something stopping you, but love will push you further, all emotions can make you blind but love is the only one worth losing your sight for xx

Chorley, Eng

It makes me sad how many people have bad experiences with love.

I love love. I adore seeing others in love. It gives me a warm hopeful happy glow.

Being in love for me is rare but when it happens it is wonderful. When it ends it can rip your outsides out but even throughout my breakup with my long term partner I still believed in love.

I found the prospect of love much more beautiful when I learnt to be happy with myself. Then it became a thing that could grow between people rather than a thing that gave me validation.

I hope I find romantic love again. I think I will. But if I don't I will be still be happy. If do and it ends again I will also be happy.

Maybe I am more of an optimist than I thought I was!

I am so happy for you OP feeling understood and seen is such a wonderful feeling.

Love is a desire to feel the happiness exude from and to do no harm to the loved: to lift when fallen; to shelter and protect when afraid; to support when faltering; to guide when lost; to set free with trust and respect.

That’s how I feel when I love and feel loved. Whether it is achieved, even with the best of intentions, tests the patience and persistence of love.

Love isn’t easy and it’s definitely not all roses around a white picket fence it’s hard work having patience and plenty of understanding.

It’s definitely worth it tho .It’s different for everyone but for me it’s having a best friend and a husband all rolled into one knowing you can tell each other anything with no judgment and knowing what the other is feeling/thinking without saying a word.

It’s also very important for us to be able to even after 30 years of being together still laugh and act like teenagers .
