So I normally laugh at these, I’m not too concerned with my browser data being shared, but the strangest thing just happened….

Earlier today, I was searching on dubizzle for used BMW. Then I was chatting to my daughter on WhatsApp., she was saying, she liked the 4 series I used to own, and I said it was from Sytner back home. Then we chatted about various things, and she asked if I had seen a certain girl.

Now, I just finish work and log onto Facebook. First thing that pops up is the certain girl likes Sytner BMW. So I message and ask her when did she like that page, just now or ages ago, and she said she never did.

Spooky?

Not really spooky.

Quite predictable really.

People are often unaware of the trail of cookies and breadcrumbs that their seemingly random clicking produces.

It’s not as random as you imagine.

"Check your cookie settings. "

I’m really not that bothered , I generally click accept all. If I want to do anything private or purchase anonymously I have a separate device with Tor & a wallet.

What is a little erring is the speed they process & link the data and create fake interactions from friends.

Get used to it. Targeting people in real time is already here

We sometimes test it out by talking about something. 9/10 times an ad for it will pop up.

Had it loads of times. Talking about something in person and it’ll pop up on an ad later that day

Your ohonelistens to what you say and everything you type to target ads. Start talking about oretyy much anythibg, you'll get ads for it soon enough. Same with Alexa.

I did that with my daughter last year, and the random thing we spoke about came up as an advert on my Facebook later that day.
