Foreign Live Snake in Aldi broccoli

Jump to newest

Chelmsford

A pensioner was shocked to find what is called a Ladder Snake, presumably because they are good climbers, lurking alive in a bag of Aldi broccoli. Although not poisonous these buggers can give a nasty bite. Ladder snakes are not native to the country and Aldi have offered to compensate but the pensioner who is in shock feared for his life and family. The lesson. Always check your broccoli. What's going on here guys it's all over the news

the land of saints & sinners

I’m not sure this really news ….

Insects, reptiles, animals found in farmed produce….

Not exactly a rare occurrence.

Next thing you will be doing is reporting that woman has a baby….

“What’s going on it’s all over the news”

I feel sorry for the snake, taken from its natural environment. Guess it had something to eat though.

I think Tom has started making up the news, just so he can repeat his favourite troll about snakes being 'Poisonous'.

I've shopped at Aldi for years and don't remember seeing their broccoli in a bag- its always wrapped in a cling film type packaging at my local stores...come one Tom, your facts are shoddier than the red tops

Safe to say then that Aldi aren’t supporting British farmer.

Ladder snakes are found in Spain Poertugal and southern France.

Just had a look and it’s on line in the daily mail, typical looks like the offending veg was wrapped in cling film in the pictures.

True however this is taken from their website

NFU Fruit and Veg Pledge

In 2015, we became the first retailer to sign up to the National Farmers Union’s (NFU’s) Fruit and Veg Pledge. We think that’s pretty amazing. It means that we have committed to:

• Build long-term relationships with growers that offer greater certainty and stability

• Honour agreements and contract terms

• Commit to buying seasonal British fruit and veg. Aldi is already an industry leader with more than 40% of fresh produce sold being British.

Tom never makes up the news. He merely reports it...

The suggestion that Tom makes up headlines is abhorrent and a poisonous comment

Poisonous or venomous?

Guess you’ll only find out if you eat it or it bites you on the arse?

This incident happened in a place called Stourbridge which is actually the birthplace of actor who played Johnny Briggs in Coronation Street.

Tom, they are not poisonous, they are venemous. Snakes that is.

Simply put, if something is poisonous and you eat it, you die.

If something is venomous, it bites you, you die!

Glad we got that cleared up!

Snakes are venomous if they mutter offensive remarks about you behind your back; poisonous if they repeat them to your friends.

Save your breath- we do this every time

I think Tom has a google alert for venomous and poisonous news stories- just so he can lay the bait for his next victim…you’ve landed firmly on his hook this time

(Although technically you’re wrong, as you don’t always die from poison/venom…it’s a quantity/potency/reaction balance - just ask your glass of wine, pinch of salt or passing wasp for details)

Beyond the Wall

I went to the cinema once with a lady friend. She found a live snake in her popcorn. Once she sucked the poison out it slithered away back into its hidy hole.

True story that

Let's clear this up once and for all. One of the world's deadliest snakes is the King Cobra which surprisingly was named after an Indian beer. It has poison glands which remarkably are full of poison. Eat that bugger and you are eating the poison and you will die so the bugger is bloomin poisonous. End of
