All over

Do you go for supermarket own products or the well known makes only? I am jot always good at giving that a try but I got some own brand chocolate digestives for half the known brand price yesterday and honestly could not tell the dififference. Needless to say they have gone.

I’ve moved more to own brands to save money - some you can hardly tell, others it obvious.

But even with the inferior ones if you stick with them you can acclimatise to them quickly, eg Tescos own brand Weetabix are clearly not as nice at first, but now I’ve persisted with them for a while they’re fine and you wouldn’t really know ..

I think Tesco Weetabix are nice, however their Cornflakes are truly rank and taste like cardboard

The branded recipes are not ‘better’ but you get used to the different levels of salt , sugar or fat. I make all my own food but even stock cubes, olive oil, spices, tomato purée are fine unbranded. Rice and meat have well understood rating system that is not about brand but quality.

It's not cheap if you can't eat it(taste or lack of it for eg),it's not expensive if you can.

Whatever I can get away with, tbh. Some of the asda yellow label stuff is pretty decent, yet some of it, like the bread, is not.

I eat almost exclusively own brand. Sometimes I can tell the difference, but I don't particularly care - food is fuel and having the nicer stuff on occasion is a treat.

There's no hard rule is there. Sainsburys mayo doesn't work for me. M&S dark chocolate digestives are without peer.

The only brand I'm loyal to is fairy washing up liquid

I really like Tesco own brand tea bags and Tesco gold coffee I think its called, but I don't like any other brand of ketchup apart from Heinz.

Store brands most of the time but we are picky on what from where. We really do not like the flavour pack Tesco use in everything. Aldi Gingernuts are that best out of everyone else by miles! But never skimp on soy sauce, has to be Kikkoman.

Happy to have own brand stuff apart from a few things - Heinz ketchup, Fairy washing up liquid and Andrex loo roll. Aldi’s version of toffee crisps are lovely

Never fucking own brand drugs!

The flu I've just had was murder until I got some of those lemsip bad boys down me. They actually do their shit and it was like having my balls tickled while my hair was stroked at the time.

God bless you lemsip, fuck you sainsburys.

Thanks for allowing me to get that out x

Why? The active drug is exactly the same. Give us the 25p painkillers over the £3 one any day!

Depends what it is. Some own brand stuff is just as good, if not better. Sometimes it's worth paying for the branded version. I'm always open to trying though and definitely not a brand snob.

Money talks when it come to the shop. Most items there is perfectly fine non branded item. Unfortunately some branded items can't be replaced and their taste makes them an essential item. For example HP sauce, never came across a brown sauce with the same taste ans spices (and I've tried because I hate paying the price of it).

Like most here, it's a case of trial and error but some things definitely cant be faked... coffee being one and considering they're not the best anyway Pot Noodles when the bar is that low, the unbranded ones are worse

Lifes departure lounge NN9 Northamptonshire East not West MidlandsMidlands

I will stick with genuine Weetabix as it is a local company employing local people.

I have stopped buying Heinz ketchup at £5 a bottle and am buying Morrisons own brand, same size £1.89. I estimate about 40% of my weekly grocery shop is Supermarkets own brand products.

It is still possible to get bargains though, last weekend I paid £2.50 for large Tropicana orange juice, normally £4.25 also large jar of Nescafe normally £8 was on offer at £5.99.

Every little helps.

For me, it genuinely depends on the item. Beans, I’m not overly fussed. Buy mayonnaise has to be Hellmans (according to the mr and children).

Crisps they’re all quite fussy with too.
