But of both, photos can attract attention but it's the personality that keeps the attention going.

In the forums it's either I go off someone because of their views/posts or it's just made clear we aren't compatible or the opposite and it could be someone I've never looked at but come across great in the forums and attraction is formed.

Quick answer is Yes.

Depending on how someone interacts or the views they display, affects how attractive I find them.

If someone looks absolutely stunning, but displays vile or hateful views in the forums, then they instantly become unattractive to me.

Conversely, if someone I wasn’t sure about is funny, insightful or interesting in the forums, then they will become far more of an attraction to me

Neither, but they have enabled me to have a lot more direct messages / chats with people on Fab than if I hadn’t interacted in the forums. Not just from other forum contributors but from lurkers that never post but message anyway.

I think it facilitates any latent attraction, a picture only goes so far. Their personality can come through in their words, face to face is the final step. If you fail to stimulate our minds with your words, your penis will never get a chance.

If I formed an opinion about someone based on the forums, attraction doesn't really come into it first as it's more about whether I'd like them as a person. If I do, then attraction can come into it based on how good looking I find them and how they interact with others and myself

I think the online space is just so different and specific it’s impossible to be *exactly* the same. Facial expression, tone etc are all harder to convey. Responses are more measured. It’s harder to be impulsive or react naturally, immediately, to things etc. It’s not a bad thing. You’re still being the real you. Just a different version.

For example is Annie Wilkes as tone deaf about people in person as she was when she posted, or was it just a lack of her communication skills?

"Yes to both, I'm probably shooting myself in the foot with my sarcasm most days "

Sarcasm is very funny, but almost impossible to pull off in written form unless you really, really aren't subtle.

Example at 2:30am last night got a message from someone 40 miles away saying "meet now, I'm in a hotel".

.

"Sure, I'll get out of bed at 2:30am on a work day, drive 40 miles for someone I've never met or spoken to and have sex"

.

They replied, "Or I could drive to you"

.

Next time I think I'll dispense with the sarcasm and just tell them to fuck off.

"Yes to both, I'm probably shooting myself in the foot with my sarcasm most days

Sarcasm is very funny, but almost impossible to pull off in written form unless you really, really aren't subtle.

Example at 2:30am last night got a message from someone 40 miles away saying "meet now, I'm in a hotel".

.

"Sure, I'll get out of bed at 2:30am on a work day, drive 40 miles for someone I've never met or spoken to and have sex"

.

They replied, "Or I could drive to you"

.

Next time I think I'll dispense with the sarcasm and just tell them to fuck off."

The point at which you mentioned it was a work day should have been all they needed to know it wasn't going to happen either way

But all you get here is their online persona. It's possible you might really like that but the person will do nothing for you.

It's a bit like walking into a pub with your eyes closed and saying "who are you attracted to"

Which wouldn't happen!

There always has to be a physical attraction. The forums just offer a platform to give an opinion.

Ultimately the profile picture decides if someone clicks on your name to view what you've written about yourself / photos.

Unless your a comedy genius (with no profile picuture) and even then you'd have to have substance behind your profile.

In the who fancies who threads, I go off so many guys. I reckon I've been put off 99.9% of guys this way.

There's a lot of guys on the forums I'd probably meet, if I hadn't seen half of their comments.

Mix of both, I could really like their pictures but if their personality comes across ugly it could put me off, however sometimes things can come across the wrong way in text to as its meant in the posters head so I don't always right someone off immediately.

That's me personally, can't comment for him
