What happens to sex toys after a break up?

Jump to newest

Taunton

So, I've recently been seeing someone but never became official, and in that time I'd bought a lot of BDSM stuff and toys. What should I do with that stuff now?

Also, when it comes to a new relationship, should I get rid of all or some of the toys?

I bought a very expensive Bluetooth controlled wearable vibrator that I don't want to get rid of!

Any advice or comments from people here please.

Odd there a second hand market for these?

Does ‘used only once’ cut it?

I've still got the box for the expensive remote control one, could make it appear it was 'brand new' with someone else...

Oddly enough....there is!

As to the question of what happens to toys after a break up - I suspect some will get used a lot more.

The question is more about whether I should get rid of them or keep them for the future with someone else?

No. Not if the item you took had been used. Use it for solo fun. If the item is still in the box and unused, then yeah, crack on.

So this is obviously a personal opinion. Nobody could clean that thing (whatever I thought of buying) enough.

Also, it just feels personal. I kept nothing from my ex wife.

Ok, thanks. I've got a wand with a male attachment so could potentially get around that one that way. I've got two dildos that are for my anal fun and then some specific ones for her. The rest is BDSM gear more than anything else.

If it has been used at all then this is very bad form.

Use it yourself, bin it or let her keep it,those are your choices.

I hate the thought of her using it without me as it's something we'd spoken about together and I bought it for us. Similarly, the thought of someone else using it with her hurts!

Not odd at all.

There's a definite market for used items of all sorts.

The biggest being used knickers, with used toys being close behind (pun intended).

Quick question, I wouldn't know as I don't have sex toys but is that why condoms are used for dildos or wands so they can be used for multiple partners?

Burnleyish (She/They)

There is a stall at the BBB that sells used sex toys so there is a market for them but if I found out someone had used a previously used toy on me without consent (you know that thing we are really keen on in the BDSM community...) I'd be furious.

As for non intimate toys, make sure they are clean and cared for properly (especially on anything that could have come into contact with broken skin).

Being poly it's one reason why I often use them...

But also it's far easier to clean up sometimes

Use it yourself or cut your losses and get rid.

If it been inside an orifice it shouldn't be used without a new partner's knowledge.

As for cuffs, bars, rope should be fine but don't try to pass off anything as new with another partner as that's unfair.

Ahhh interesting, I guess if you thought you'd only have one partner I can see why you wouldn't but I suppose you should see the toys as a write off before purchasing them no matter how clean you think you can get it

Anything that can be sterilised properly like glass, silicon etc you could probably keep. Vibrators and the like can’t be sterilised and shouldn’t be used on anyone else. If you’re going to keep anything I’d be honest with them about it and let them make the decision on whether they are ok with it or not.

The insertables should stay with the person they've been used on unless they are glass. Things like restraints are fine to use again, just clean them properly.

My thoughts are that I'd not let anyone near me with toys he had lying around. Only ones I'd use would be my own or ones we had bought together.

If they're intimate/internal, give them to the person who used them.

Don’t be a cheapskate

New woman, new toys.

Imagine if a new lady wanted you to wear a cock sleeve and gave you one her previous BF used to wear that she’d given a good wash.

Same with a dildo.

And this is why I have my own kit. It only gets used on me.

The amount of guys that carry around a case/bag of kit and don't realise we would be mortified at how many women it's been used on.

Not just toys... restraints and collar etc included.

Off Subject a little but many years ago in the very late 80's I delivered kerb stones to a council depot and got invited into the yard mess room for a cuppa.

There was a pin board covered in polaroids of housewives the dustys had recovered from bins. Safe to say you can imagine the type of pictures.

At the time I loved it, as I grew older I really felt for the people who luckily had no idea they were found.

Whatever you want to keep, keep, simple really.

I've never kept toys from realtionships, always started afresh.

Though anything I have now from being single I wouldn't chuck away if I was to get into a realtionship.

They are more expensive and better quality though.

Because unfortunately you can't replace male cocks, so it's not like we have a choice. Toys however you can replace.
