Song versions you love and hate

There are songs that I absolutely love when sung by one artist....but hate them when sung by another, very often the original just doesn't cut it compared to a cover.

Example....

'Alfie', written by the fantastic Bacharach and David and slaughtered by Cilla Black.....But mastered later by Stevie Wonder

Then slaughtered again by Lily Allen....and mastered yet again by Ronald Isley

See if you can find Gail Ann Dorsey's version. Very underrated singer

I love and hate the song 'Hurt' because people think Johnny Cash wrote it.

Trent Reznor gets absolutely no credit for HIS great song.

He gets plenty of royalties though.

The fine young cannibals version of suspicious minds is truly awful.

Aha's song take on me is better when covered by Reel Big Fish.

Lily Allen's 'Alfie' is a completely different song, isn't it !?

If Dione Warwick has sung a Bacharach/David song then it automatically makes any other version shite

And beg to differ on the Warwick thing,

I find her version of 'Walk on by' a little tinny, I prefer the Issaac Hayes and Ronald Isley versions....more soul in them
