As we all know Doctor Who is one of those things that is quintessentially British, but say the USA did thing. Who could pull off the eccentric nature of The Doctor.

If we are talking classic Who I'd say Gene Wilder, present day someone like Donald Glover.

Also maybe the Tardis would be a little different

Well, the new season is being funded by Disney. So, there is part of your answer.

Stockport

Keanu Reeves, with companion Alex Winter. The tardis would be an all glass telephone box, and be exactly the same size inside as outside...

An american accent would pull us right out of the whoniverse. That said Nicolas Cage, Seth Green, Zach Braff, maybe Sean Hays. You would need to cherry pick some at particular ages though. The TARDIS chameleon circuit would sputter into a tricked out F250 with a sitcom house inside.

Somewhere In The Ether…

Steve Buscemi- he’d make for an interesting American Dr Who.

DrWho is a thing over here in the states and reckon they are not daft enough to try and replicate it....

Somewhere In The Ether…

Imagine the great, Christopher Walken in the role - how awesome would that be?!

Also, Jeff Goldblum

"Jim Carrey "

I could see a regeneration sequence with him taking on the personalities of the previous ones before settling down.

She is desperate to be in the show. Keeps nagging them. Hasn’t got the time to be able to commit to playing The Doctor but would love a part nonetheless

My immediate thought was Sam Rockwell but now I’m wondering if he’s a little too energetic for the role ?

Some great names in here.

Crispin Glover is someone who could probably pull off being either The Doctor or The Master.

Anthony Hopkins could play either the Dr or the Master. As could Patrick Stewart.

The late Alan Rickman would have made a superb Master (and also Dr).

Blimey, I keep picking actors who were or are at the top of their game and RSC.

I think however, I'd have to go for Joaquin Phoenix. Serious, intense and could do the role justice, and treat it with the respect it deserves.

I've had enough of madcap zany Doctors. Time for some gravitas.

Paul McGann is technically the "American" iteration of The Dr as that movie was the first colab between US and UK to get Dr Who rebooted but it didn't get enough views from the American side to continue funding and support.

Priah Ferguson or Maya Hawke (from stranger things) both would be great but would love to see Priah take the role later in her career
