East London

I don't bother with my GP surgery now; I ring the out of hours hub or 111.

I tried to get an urgent GP appointment last year at 8am, and got a voice message saying there were no appointments left.

It only rang once and they had already all gone.

So, I rang out of hours later and they had no appointments, so I rang 111.

After being on hold and talking to two people from 111 they got me a GP telephone appointment for that evening.

It took me all day and 3 calls to have 111 get me the appointment my surgery could have given me at 8 in the morning.

Some people go to the surgery at 8am but normally it's like fastest finger first- I start ringing at 7.59am and generally go straight through.

I've not bothered trying to get one in ages! I always either call 111 or do an online consultation where they've called me back. Both seem to have been pretty good so far though

"At ridiculas Dr apoibtment system "

Mine uses a system where you have to ring on the day to get an appointment.

You can even book online.

Manchester-ish

If it's non urgent have you tried using the NHS app? You might be able to use it to book gp appointments at your practice.

Happened to be at the Dr's the other day where a receptionist turned 4 people away advising 'go online to book'. The online booking system has been down for a good 6 months. She seemed to gain pleasure in turning shockingly sick people away who couldn't get appointments or had been told to come in and book/see someone.

It is, Dr's no doubt know they do it but are amazed when you tell them you can't get an appointment

My local G.P suspended online appointments at the start of Covid and has still not reintroduced the system, Bloody annoying.
